I'm skeptical the Devils would move him, but I think this is something the Penguins may target. The Penguins were rumored to be in on Jiricek, but they weren't in a position to trade for him due to being unwilling to trade their own 1st for him. Now that they have the NYR 1st, Friedman has speculated that they might try to move that pick:

'Pittsburgh wanted that pick. I'm going to be very interested to see if Pittsburgh keeps that pick or if they try to turn it into another young player. It's top 13 protected this year but unprotected next year and I'll be curious to see if a team wants to gamble on what kind of year the Rangers will have next year.'

Combine their interest with Jiricek with this, I figure Nemec would be another interesting option for them. So my idea is a proposal based on the Jiricek trade between the Penguins and Devils for Nemec:

-Penguins get Nemec
-Devils get Pieniniemi, NYR's lottery protected 2025 1st, St. Louis' 2026 2nd and Pittsburgh's 2025 3rd

The Jiricek trade was Jiricek and a 5th for Hunt, a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th, so that's what I was basing this on. The Penguins still have plenty of picks even with doing this, since they have 2 2026 2nds and 3 2025 3rds before this deal.

What interest does NJ have in futures? They need NHL players for the here and now.

Pieniniemi seems a decent prospect, but not on a level with Nemec.

Unnecessary trade.

The idea is that Nemec wants a change of scenery to be given more of a NHL shot and the Penguins pay a Jiricek type of price to get him. New Jersey would then have that additional currency to use to either just hold onto those picks or use them to improve the team now.

Nemec hasn't demanded a trade, but he did say this a few weeks ago:

Just because the jiricek trade happened doesn’t mean other teams are willing to do the same.

Barring a formal trade request, this idea makes less than zero sense for the devils.

We're all well aware of what he said a few weeks ago. If he doesn't have an NHL spot next season, we have an issue - but by no means is he demanding to be moved this season.

Still don't see why NJ would remotely entertain this. If Nemec gets moved, it's not for a handful of futures but for a young forward that can help them now and the foreseeable future.

Well he's recalled now as Siegenthaler is going to be out.

Not the way we wanted it to happen, but now he has his chance to shine.

Again, unnecessary trade for the Devils that only serves to strengthen a divisional rival.

Even if Nemec demanded a trade (he hasn't) NJ wouldn't part with him for a bunch of picks. It would be for an impact now player or a young center/winger in a similar position.

If they wanted to improve the team now, Nemec would bring them back better value than what they’d have to use from this PIT trade.

I think the idea here would be you use the new found capital to bolster other areas of need.

He’s still on his ELC.
So? I mean that's great but if you need to bolster other areas like 2/3C, getting a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc would help. Yeah, they could trade Nemec as well, I guess. Might just depend on the roster of the teams.
