The Pens did a lot right. The numbers are heavily tilted in their favor 5-on-5.

69-39 in shot attempts
33-21 in scoring chances
13-10 in high danger chances

If the Pens get a power play goal or if Jarry actually shows up, this might have been a different game.

But those things didn't happen, so it's the same old song.

Ottawa clogged the slot and insulated Korpisalo after the first period. It's just like the power play. If the Pens aren't going to go to the net, they won't win consistently.

I mean this is pretty much the tale of the tape with this team the past year plus isn't it? Good underlying numbers, bad pp, bad goaltending....and bad results.

We just don’t have the identity or mental strength to play the game straight. It’s so apparent that we panic and expect to lose without a miracle once we get behind.

And now the heat is on the staff to address those recurring issues. They have the types of players, for the most part, who should be able to execute what they ask.

If not, they should be adapting their approach to fit the players.

The Avs looked like they were sleepwalking. Probably mentally expected a bye game.

It is also the sign of an ill-coached team that can has the ability to beat anyone on any given night but is more likely to lose to anyone the next night.

the statement that we win this game more than not is exactly what the problem with this team is, thats what the coaches see and thats why its the same song for the last five years...sometimes its goalie, sometimes its refs, its this its taht, ucky bounce, sometimes its PK, sometimes its PP...it creeps up, the good teams, the good coached teams don't come after first period 0:2 and have 4 shots in the next 13 minutes or so..

they are not turning this around unless something dramatic happens..

no turning around what it's taken Sullivan years to get deeply ingrained.
Sullivan will out last Dubas and even player on tonights roster. ha!

The cold reality is that even if they made the playoffs, that grants the team a 2-week stay of execution.
They have no chance of taking out a good team in a best of 7. Have no illusions on that.

What matters is having an entertaining product for the fans. They certainly aren't delivering that.
