Confirmed with Link: Penguins and Mike Sullivan part ways

So... would all you nice people recommend Coach Sullivan to a friendly neighbourly franchise?
if you have the speed to make his concepts work, yes. People are giving you a lot of snarky comments, because we're like one day into a 4-month-long pissing on his grave, so we're not in the mood to talk him up, but if your personnel can run his system, you'll be successful. If they can't, you'll be the Penguins.

Selfishly, I hope you can't, because we NEED McKenna. It's been 20 years since we've drafted a generational player.

Crosby is superstitious and as part of that I'm sure he's at least wary of big changes but that doesn't mean he isn't a completely reasonable person who is looking at this entire situation with eyes wide open.

I guarantee you he knows the score... where they are at, now and that if anything this coach and his vision were given TOO much time to prove that they could still do it. To act like Crosby needs to have things explained to him and like he needs to be like... sheltered and spoken for is super cringe IMO. Dude is a like... middle aged man FFS.
If we're going the Crosby being superstitious route, he'd probably be more angry they didn't fire Sullivan during the season so they'd win the cup this year.

When it comes to Sid I would imagine he will be just fine seeing as how he’s a professional athlete who understands it’s a business… and if he isn’t then honestly he can go somewhere else at this point. I love Sid and appreciate everything he has done for this city and this team, but if firing a coach who clearly wasn’t working anymore makes him a pouty baby, then he can just leave.

Yeah I have no excuses left to not at least want to see where this is going, now.

...right up until he brings on some horrific players for a crappy pick or two then I'm sure I'm right back to complaining bitterly lol

We're not doing that again this year I hope? Can we maybe just bring in a handful of REAL players and if (when) the team sucks just trade those guys instead? Please?
He drafted well and the players he got in the Jake trade look good, he also hoarded a ton of picks. I think he’s done a fine enough job and he just fired the single biggest problem with this franchise the last 8yrs.

He’s earned a fair bit of rope for me.

Between Madden, this and so many others, it’s wild to me that Crosby was able to continue his career after they traded his buddy Colby Armstrong in 2008. Because according to all of these doofs, Sid just can’t simply move on any time anyone who he likes and respects is let go or traded or whatever else.

Screw Marek for that tweet too. He knows what he’s doing with that quote. This whole trying to drive Sid out of Pittsburgh thing is such utter crap.

They play up that angle because that’s all they got. “Poor soft headed Nova Scotian sad about coach that has failed for 8yrs being kicked to the curb where he belonged 4yrs ago…”

You guys should FOR SURE hire Torts to go along with him. AND you can steal Quinn off of us! OH NO!
Dubas stated he wasn’t keeping Quinn, Vellucci, and Chiodo. That the new coach deserved a clean slate and that if any of those coaches were asked about by the new coach that he’d allow the discussions.

All 3 can go f*** off.

I just still cannot fathom rooting for the coach over the players. It must be something transmitted from Stillers fans via fluid or air particles or something.
Yeah on X, there’s a lot of crying for a coach that hasn’t won shit in 8yrs and bellyaching about how Tomlin deserved to go first. To me, both should have been fired 5yrs ago. They can take that dumb f*** Shelton with them too.

It's all nonsense. All these media dorks said the same thing about Bylsma and Fleury and Guentzel and Kunitz and JMFJ and Colby Armstrong and....

Sid's been through this many times before and the ONLY time he ever had ANYTHING to say is when they were going to let Malkin, a true franchise legend, walk.

I mean, that’s what Josh Yohe told you in an absolutely unhinged Tumblr teenage angst type of f***ing fan fic post about “WE DON’T DO DAT HURR IN PIBUUURGH!”

Do you like success?
Do you like players progressing?
Do you like seeing your team play a system that adapts and evolve?
Do you like hearing about what kind of system the coach wants to employ?

If yes, Sullivan is absolutely none of those but Drury will hire him anyway.

It's also a reminder not to take everything he says at face value. Up until this week, he was all "you can't lose Sully, he's sooo great"
Hit us with that rope a dope and fired the dope.

tbh I don’t think it’s a perfect fit. All joking aside he definitely adapted schemes for personnel (until like this past season).

But the one thing he like actually cannot win without is good forecheckers. Like a lot of them. On every line. I don’t feel like the Rags really have that. As a result I think if he implements similar systems as he did here there will be a lot of pressure on your D and goalie. The moment we kinda went from “elite forechecking team” to simply “solid/decent/above avg forechecking team” we’d still control games 5v5 but gave up so many odd man rushes and barely had any ourselves.

Is he a good coach? Yes imo. Will be better than GG, Lavi, Quinn? Yes. Could he take you to the promised land? Possibly. But I don’t think it’s a slam dunk.
Mate, Dubas should at least do the kind thing and give the Rangers players like Acciari and Hayes for next to nothing. Kind of like a “Sully will need these to do his job for you.”

Uh, yeah. For those reasons.

The kind dumb enough to pay for an Athletic subscription and believe the stupid shit written by so called “Penguins reporters” there like they know anything of value.
It's wild to me that people pay to read Yohe and Rossi, man. Just bonkers shit.

HFboards is free and even this collection of psychos has more insight and just as much insider knowledge.
