Mark Madden is the piped-in audio in hell's waiting room.Madden is still a thing? Who the heck is tuning into 105.9 THE X or any FM/AM radio station in 2025??
I liked the Dubas pretty much said Sid gets the early FYI because he's earned that, but he doesn't call shots.IT'S A FAIR QUESTION!
Maybe but Sidney Crosby ain’t walking through that door. Theres a higher chance they implement his system and Igor turns into a mental patient after they give up unlimited odd man breaksSullivan taking the Rangers job means the 2026 1st they'll get from him will be like 26th overall. Gonna suck for their rebuild if/when Sullivan does end up there
I am coming out of this presser with more respect for Dubas than any other point in his tenure to date, it's pretty funny.Dubas roasting Sullivan for his preferred player type is gold
I am not a Keefe fan at all, but I can see why/how he could be so successful in the junior hockey ranks. I don't think he works well in the NHL, personally. Regular season coach, basically. I hope Lazary can make a better transition. I see what Lazary did with a guy like Parekh in the OHL, and I just wonder what he could do for someone like Erik Karlsson.Don't you dare take him from us. lol
I all seriousness he would be a Dubas type guy. Modeled his system after Keefe's time in the Soo. Don't know how well he'd do with a rebuilding team though. The fans would probably sour on him before he gets his player's/system going in full gear.
it also protects every single player from questions. "i'm the GM, I made the decision, it's on me, not the players." Perfect.I liked the Dubas pretty much said Sid gets the early FYI because he's earned that, but he doesn't call shots.
Dude has a face for radio and a voice for the Mariana TrenchMan the noticeable cringe my body goes into when I hear Madden's voice. What a chode.
Commented on this elsewhere, but take a look at that guy’s resume. Very sparse for someone who is the goaltending coach for an NHL team. It’s wild he’s been here as long as he has.chiodo moving on seems like great news too?
Honestly, I don't want a big name coach. Any hot young thing (helloooooo, nurse) will want an NHL job, regardless of how bad the current situation is. The Ducks haven't struggled to lure in coveted young coachesWe do have to be honest, though. 1-2 years of Sid. 1 year of Geno. A terrible old team. This is not really a "coveted" position to want. I dont think top end coaches will be rushing to become a Pens coach.
This is a valid point, but if I'm being charitable it's because he didn't feel he had enough to go on to fire Sullivan. But also, yeah, being able to make unilateral decisions is why he wanted the job in the first place, so he should do it!this PC is actually pissing me off, since it's clear Dubas hasn't been happy with the coaching for a while now. Who is getting off on the fans' unhappiness the last 12 months?!
I would like us to hire someone who never played for us.Commented on this elsewhere, but take a look at that guy’s resume. Very sparse for someone who is the goaltending coach for an NHL team. It’s wild he’s been here as long as he has.
Hopefully Dubas can hire someone who actually has some experience because our goaltending prospects is one of the few bright spots of this organization right now.
the awkward silence after that lengthy answer was great."Are you worried about Sid wanting to leave now given his relationship with Mike?"
"No."
Others have said it but I am really getting a kick out of Doob this afternoon.
Depends on how damaging their previous employment went.We do have to be honest, though. 1-2 years of Sid. 1 year of Geno. A terrible old team. This is not really a "coveted" position to want. I dont think top end coaches will be rushing to become a Pens coach.
Yeah. I mean, I hope this was a learning moment for Kyle.Still... good for him. Better late than never I suppose. It's just that... this is REALLY late.
yeah he swatted madden away like a gnatthe awkward silence after that lengthy answer was great.
He cut his teeth on the toronto "media," this shit is tame by comparison
