Confirmed with Link: Penguins and Mike Sullivan part ways

Could not disagree more

Everyone is giving that team a pass. For what? I know it wasn’t just Jack Hughes but they’re a bottom 5 team from Jan 1 on.

Hughes went down March 2nd. They have a decent roster sans Jack Hughes too. Bratt is a beast. Meier is an analytical darling. Hischier is a 1C.

They completely imploded.
They lost Hughes, Hamilton, Siegenthaler and their finishing crated as well. If we're gonna dump on them for how crummy they were in the second half we should give as much credit for how good they were in the first half when healthy.

Either way, highly doubt they dump him after one year. Boston or New York.

Yeah it sucks such good memories are tainted by how the organization handle it. I’m really curious as to how this will proceed with him gone.

I wonder how Sid’s going to react.
Sid's a robot, so probably something along the lines of "Great coach, great guy, thankful for his time here, wish him well" and then he'll skate off and take a 1,000 faceoffs or something.

Hischer was out too.

At the same time they had a worse record than us from Jan 1st on and they are getting absolutely spanked in the same style as Leafs always did in the playoffs.

I mean the first half isn’t when it matters and regardless what is incredibly worrisome is how little he got out of that squad when times got hard. Look at Dallas. Look at the Pens when Crosby was concussed. Or when Letang went down.

That team wants to win a cup. They should be able to be competitive or at least tread water through injuries. Bottom 5? No excuses for that.

Sorry for butting in as an outsider but who the f*** does Sullivan think he is to make exorbitant demands to the Penguins after getting paid millions upon millions of dollars to coach your team well beyond his expiration date?
He's a guy who hasn't been held accountable for a near decade of steep and steady decline, all the while people obsessively praised him to a degree bordering on reverence. Not surprising at all that he walked in and tried to throw his weight around.

It's just a rumor but it absolutely seems like something Sullivan would do.

You have to understand that he has been heavily enabled and living in a buddle here for like... seven years. The media won't even ask him difficult questions though they STARTED to this year.

Also speaking of those clowns I look forward to DK, Rossi, Yohe, Kingerski etc. articles. What are you guys betting... overwrought gnashing and wailing or smarmy gaslighting "well WE'VE been saying for years that he had to go" stuff?

It's kind of brilliant really

He either gets total control of the team, or they tell him to go home and he still gets paid.
