Unless/until a trend of multiple airline incidents per day start piling up (so to speak), the risks of airborne public travel will remain much lower than road travel. Your analytical mind certainly must know that complex systems yield complex results, and what remains a relatively small sample size should not be used to quantify probabilities. NYT addresses a range of contributing factors in this article. DON'T PANIC! Yet ...
