Only 1 game. The Kings have to win at least 1 game in SJ to win the series, so if it's game 1, 2, 5, or 7, it doesn't really matter. As they say, a series doesn't really start until the home team loses. Try again Sunday.

All I know is that if Pearson is not in the lineup on Sunday I'm going to scream.

I'm just guessing, but you better prepare your lungs

Taking a different spin on things, if Lewis is on Carter's line, I'm going to lose my mind

FWIW, Sutter took a lot of responsibility for his decisions and lack of preparing the team in his post-gamer. Never seen that from him before, so it's refreshing. Signals to me that at least he noticed something majorly off--game 2 should show us what he chooses to do about it!

He better. It was his fault. It's nice to see a coach take responsibility. Kudos to him.

I admire Sutter, I think he is one of the best coaches in all of sports, but yeah, he crapped the bed tonight. His lines were terrible, his line matching was awful and the team wasn't prepared to start the game tonight. I'm happy he took ownership for his coaching performance and I have confidence he will have a better lineup and a team ready to play from the opening draw in game 2.

Alright Sutter! Now kick your team in the ass and get things back on track. It is ok to make small changes to the game plan without throwing the whole thing out.

Man that was a ****ing embarrassing game. Big wake up call.

*hands out earplugs to the forum*

Pearson not being in the lineup makes no sense to me. He's one of the fastest skaters on the team and helped solidify the top six. Richards and Brown are barely top nine players right now. We need the speed and enthusiasm.

And don't give me the "well he may not be good defensively he's young" because the veteran team iced tonight was a complete joke defensively.

Yeah I don't see what Nolan provides that Pearson doesn't besides "grit"

No, i like Pearson in the lineup too i'm just prepping for the inevitable

I'd argue nolan doesn't even bring grit. This type of game and both he and Clifford didn't try to start anything to fire the team up. We have a completely useless 4th line.

Everyone needs to take a Xanax and calm down.

The 2013 and 2012 Cup Champs lost game 1 on the road. It's not the end of the world.

The players aren't suddenly useless. Quick isn't a sieve. Just chill. They were flat for 40 minutes and they know it. Adjustments will be made.

I don't really care if whether they change the lines or not, they just need to play like they do all year and not allow odd man rushes or turn the puck over in the neutral zone. I don't know why they got away from that but the lines wont matter unless they figure out how to hold on to the puck.

Yep, Sutter lost the coaching battle the moment he put Richards out for the opening faceoff, daring the Sharks to start Thornton to crush him. He then lost the war when he had Richards and Regehr on the ice facing Thorntons line for the first goal

In all fairness to Richards, he was the one who forced Thornton to turn the puck over on the first shift, that lead to the prime scoring chance by Carter.

In periods 1 & 2, the Sharks looked the playoff Kings of 2012. Now we know how it feels to be on the other side of it. Ugh.

Last night's result doesn't make me optimistic about this series, but I still think a lot of you are a bunch of overreacting Chicken Littles. It's one game.

id say the Kings looked like the playoff Kings of 2010, i cant give the Sharks all the credit because our boys were piss-poor sloppy the first two periods. those line change goals were beer league-esque. unbelievable

i dont get it? Kings didnt lose game 1.

Anyway, if you lose 6-3 or 6-5 in triple OT. In both cases you are down 1-0. Actually losing In OT hurts more Imo.

Not terribly surprising since 99% of us knew those lines were absolute trash, especially putting 74-10-77 together, effectively negating Carter. Only real surprise was Quick not being good at all.

While King was not the main problem on that line, I will say for the hundredth time that this team is not winning **** with him in the Top 6. Best 3rd line we can roll is 74-28-23 so it is mind-boggling to not see them put together.

You can't sit here with a straight face and tell me Pearson shouldn't play because he is young when Sutter threw him into his first ever NHL game against this same team on the road and in the second round. I love Nolan, but if we are going to allow them to run Quick and not do anything, then he can sit:

12-11-14
70-77-73
74-28-23
13-10-22

Also, everyone can rag on Matt Greene all they want, but he was injected into this series last year and paid dividends IMO. He might be a better addition at home where Sutter can control matchups, but Greene is going to go out there and punish their forwards like he did last year. I would not be upset if he went in the lineup.

Felt like when we play Chicago. That does not bode well for the rest of the series. Maybe these clowns will worry about winning a division championship or at least getting home ice instead of "We just want to qualify" from here on out. Being in the Pacific and finishing 3rd with this new format is going to be a tough spot for the next few years.

well we don't need to just win 1 on the road... we have to win also all of our home games lol

i feel like the Sharks will actually win 1 in LA

it's crazy because the last regular season game between the two was a message sent by SJ on the way they'll play in the playoffs

we laughed it off...players took it lightly and didn't respond

then game 1 comes and ... the players still didn't respond! wtf? after all that time to prepare... how do they not respond!?

also...we keep apologizing for Quick's average season since he is a playoff goalie

so he chokes here and there during the season because in our minds we convince ourselves that the brick wall will come during the playoffs

well...? until when are we going to apologize?

He's .940 in the playoffs over the last few years. Take your hand off the red button.

Conversations on in the series thread!
