Pavel Bure 'skate to stick' move

Most players don't do it because it's really not that effective on goalies and it's pretty hard to pull off at top speed

Chris Neil went forehand to outside skate in the shootout of his 1000th game a few weeks back... Maybe if he had gone to inside skate like Bure...

I can't imagine that move being effective unless you can pull it off at a very high speed.

How many players do you think could pull that off at high speed? Not many. My lord I had almost forgotten how fast Bure was.

kassian tried it the night we raised bure's number to the rafters...he didn't pull it off, but i applauded the effort

I did this move at my slow men's league pace and scored and some guys thought I just lost the puck and recovered while one dude shouted out "wow he pulled the Bure"
Obviously I have no where near the speed and skill to do it like he did but glad people still talk about it and recognize it cause its a classic and one of my favs!

This has nothing to do with examples from the modern NHL lol.

I've never seen anything that similar to Bure's move, especially on a breakaway. We've obviously seen players go skate to stick, but not how Bure did it. The closest example I remember:

God how fast was he?

Insanely.

IIRC that was also a pre-season game. Much easier to try stuff like that when the result doesn't matter.

I can't find video of it anymore, but I think I remember seeing Mike Cammalleri do something similar. I think it was ages ago during the AHL Skills Competition.

He basically did the same thing Bure did there, but put the puck outside his left leg and almost behind him, passed it to his right skate through his legs and kicked it back to his forehand before going to the backhand to finish.

B-But not as fast as McJesus! In fact, McJesus is TWICE as fast as Bure was!

You just have to use this as evidence any time someone makes that claim.

Miles Wood is faster. Pavel Bure was faster.

In a lot of these examples players he is comparing aren't even skating in straight lines, some weaving through players in the neutral zone. This video does not prove Bure is faster than McDavid...because he wasn't. I don't think anyone has ever skated faster with the puck than Miles Wood though.
