Yeah, I read something about Federov being a no-show just because Bure is going to be GM, something along the lines was also mentioned on the Russian section of HF. Whats up with that, did Bure and Federov have some negative history? I would think that Federov + Mogilny, Bure's old linemates would be linning up to be on the team now.
I read the TSN article and thought "hm, those are weird comments." Then, I watched the actual interview with Kovalev and in person he was REALLY weird, the little shrug and facial after he ended his interview with "I dont have to deal with him" said it all... but I am not quite sure what.
In any case, its not up to Kirkun now, Bure will be making the selections... and I have more confidence in his ability to pick a team than Kirkun's "the RSL is just as good as the NHL mentality." Bure was the captain of the Russian national team afterall, he is an ambassador of Russian hockey or at least the face of it, and he knows most players and the NHL as well as the RSL... seems like a good man for the job.
