BS. Everyone loves to hate on Pavs. He's the scape goat for every loss.
Who cares about the turnover right in front of our net and a player scores, Pavs should have had it! Every single game.

In the GDT thread everyone blamed Buff for the goal.
A few people thought it wasn't the best goal, but people put the blame on Buff, not Pavs.
So I reject the idea that people blame Pavs regardless of who is responsible.
But whatever right?

Never the case any other time. Think it was the St Louis game people said he was brutal, when two of them were direct giveaways from the defense. That's just one time off the top of my head.
Guarantee if we lost this game it would have been on Pavs.

I'm guessing that they realized by that time -- well into the third period -- that Pavs had played so well that the "Pavs is terrible" schtick was a lost cause, at least for this one night.

1290 guys had said Scheif was on ice for the Dallas goal and was benched after that.

I seem to recall that Buff passed it right up the middle to no one. I didn't see him get benched. That's what I don't like about Noel, it seems that he uses his authority on the younger guys like Scheifele or Burmistrov but won't do anything to a vet. I was surprised when Setoguchi wasn't dressed for a game earlier in the year.

It's almost like it's more constructive to talk about the play on ice than make critical generalizations about the fanbase and forum members.

Buff does make mistakes here and there but can the Jets afford him to be benched? The guy who averages 25+ mins/game. Scheif is young and still learning. I don't see why it's such an issue that he got benched. It wasn't like he was playing lights out in the game.

All of the forwards were way ahead of the play (at the opposing blue line) when Buff was looking to move the puck. This included Scheifele, who probably should have made himself more available for a pass.

Easy to guarantee something that didn't happen. Stop whining about people who are critical of Pavs and I don't know, maybe enjoy the fact that we won? Man you're miserable..

Please somebody lobby for CBC to never do another Jets game. Outside of Bob Cole, Ron and Don, the whole CBC crew can go. I was a staunch supporter of everything/anything CBC until this year. Mark Lee is a massive buzzkill.

I'm 90% sure that CBC team are Buff haters. They went after Buff like he had killed a newborn baby when he made that turover. Sure it was a turnover but Stars player got the puck nears the Stars blueline. It was fairly innocuous as far as turnovers go. Then when Bogo turned it over in the slot the CBC crew didn't go after Bogo half as hard as they did with Buff despite it being a way worse turnover. Similarly Ladd made an awful blind pass in front of Pavelec right into the slot which luckily got picked by a Jets player but the CBC crew starts to praise the amazing play of Ladd whereas Buff was crucified :shakehead

Coach Noel - Assessment of the game. Resiliency of his team. The play of Ondrej Pavelec. Importance of the extra point. Energized squad. Anyone in particular stand out?

Yes all the forwards were ahead of Buff but if you look at the replay, Scheif is to Buffs right for a pass up the wall on the right side. But Buff decides to make a cross the ice pass through the middle.

I think Pavs played really well but I didn't like this goal. His stick wasn't on the ice and it was a 5 - hole goal. One that can easily be saved with a goalie with good structure.

Not saying that Buff's giveaway up the middle was excusable, but my god, Stuart's brain cramp on the PK at the end of regulation made that look brilliant by comparison.

You're on a PK, there are less than 20 seconds in the game, and you've got one of the strongest players in the NHL battling for the puck along the boards. Do you:

a) Let Byfuglien battle along the boards and at worst have Dallas regain possession while maintaining your PK responsibility in front of the net

OR

b) Wander aimlessly from the front of the net to lend support (lend support is being generous, more like flail your stick) while leaving Jamie Benn alone in front of goal for Ondrej Pavelec to contend with?

If you chose b), congrats! You're a borderline #6 NHL defenseman, but you at least add something in terms of shot blocking and "character".

Ok, I'm done being a sourpuss. Can't get too high with the wins, y'know? :D

are you alluding to that moment when there were THREE jets behind the net on a penalty kill, or was there another moment?
because the 3-behind-the-net moment was probably one of the greatest things i've seen hockey players do on ice in a professional setting.
my jaw dropethed.

because you're rolling 2.5 lines that are playing ineffectively and you have another game in less than 24 hrs?
because you have a 1 goal lead and Scheifele made a nice play skating back to prevent a 2 on 1?
and you can toss Scheifele out in non-faceoff situations, since every shift does not result in a defensive end faceoff?

Have to agree with you yogi - some of the decisions were a bit weird. 1-4 when it's tied? Stapling Scheifele and Peluso to the bench and overplaying the rest when there's a game today? We came out with the win, but I was scratching my head about a few things.

Let's see how Peluso and Scheifele respond - I think they're resilient enough to come out with energy today. They'd better, as everyone else might be gassed. ;)

GDT will be up shortly, BTW.

Here is the vid of the Buff gaffe, I'm not sure what you expect Scheif to do. He is protecting the weak side tho there was no one there. I think that Clitsome is the one who misplayed that. I think Peluso was protecting the high middle of the ice for a pass across but technically, I believe that was his man on the point. Also like i stated, I thought it was a weak goal even tho Pavs played a strong game. Don't mind the video edit, I sux, what can I say.

To stick with the Buff and Bogo plays they were of a completely nature. Buff's was an unforced giveaway when he had complete control and wasn't rushed. Bogo was put into a bad position by a horrible pass, had to cut back with a guy right on him who blocked his desperation clearing attempt with his chest.
