Yeah, I know. I was the one who posted the error in the first place. And then someone posted a joke that the punishment was harsh - to kick the Devs out of the playoffs. I was just making another joke from that joke.
This is some 4D chess by the league, their ability to realize the Devils wouldn't succeed without Cotter and their subsequent decision to take their playoff spot away is amazing.
It just make sense to give it someone that could put it to better use.
Not sure how that gets 2 and Tsyplakov got 3 earlier this year. Other than the usual randomness of their decisions. Anyway, not trying to be a homer - just honestly not understanding.
edit: Just looked at both videos. Tsyplakov's hit was harder. Interesting that they noted that Poehling (guy Tsyplakov hit) was injured, but they did not note that for Pelech - despite the blood on the ice maybe he's basically okay?. Anyway, I guess those are the things that led to the 1 game difference.
Why would injury history be a factor when Cotter went shoulder to jaw on Adam Pelech while looking the other way to claim he didn't intend to make the contact? Similar hits all year got 3 so this getting 2 is a bit lenient.
