Confirmed with Link: Paul Byron announces his retirement, named Player Development Consultant

I thought he did already in July. Oh well, good complementary piece. I still don't know why Bergy signed him to such a large extension, only to waive him twelve times a year. Bergy was way too easy to give out 3 mil contracts to third/fourth liners.

what a story he wrote, against all odds he carved himself a career and earned his due respect,
one of the most likeable habs the last decade.

Thanks for the great memories Ti-Paul and good luck with the new gig.
Teach your skating skills to WhaWha and we'll have the 5th rd steal of the century.

Do we have anybody in the system or on the team that can skate as fast as Byron?

Good to see Byron join the player development staff as he should be successful in that type of role considering his journey to the NHL

He is bound to resonate with the many mid-level prospects we have coming into the system. Do you remember how disappointed he was when he was waived by Calgary/claimed by Montreal? It took him a little while to establish himself in the line-up that first season as well. All these years later he has carved out a very respectable career with some very memorable high points. A good mentor to share the story that as one door closes, another opportunity begins.

Crazy how fast this guy was!!!

One of the best goal scored by MTL in the last 10 years. It was against Toronto, anyone can add it?

Thanks :)
Crazy speed!!
Agreed that goal in the playoffs, was amazing.
That was a great waiver pickup..........a bright spot in a tough 10 year stretch for the team.

Great to see a deserving former player get this deserved role and great to see this management team seemingly always doing the right things.
On and off the ice, the current guys have changed almost everything they do as an organization.
