Patriots/NFL Patriots hiring Mike Vrabel, a franchise Hall of Famer, as head coach

I think one of the big questions is whether Vrabel learned anything from the failure in Tennessee. We'll have an early idea of that based on his coaching staff and potential changes with GM/personnel staff. If it's mostly just bringing back guys he's familiar with from the Titans, I'm going to be concerned. The issue there wasn't just Vrabel not having his preferred GM and not having a QB.
I don't think it's accurate to call his tenure in Tennessee a failure. Not even close to a failure really. It was a successful run overall.

It’s not to me - I been reading his 4 wins and how they did nothing offseason

Tough to see North Attleboro to live

Heads up: you might want to put me on ignore I’m just warming up on Belichick
You loved Mayo hire too and Mayo stunk. You love Wolf and he blows too.

They are.

You'll have more accountability but will be bring them to the next level? He had one good run on the Titans and their offenses weren't exactly the 80's Chargers.
He had 4 winning seasons

That's pretty good. Most coaches are hired to be fired and don't come close to what he achieved...with a mid QB.

With the Patriots having Drake Maye I am only "jealous" of a few teams really. For example, not jealous of teams with good records but no shot of actually winning...Pittsburgh, Tampa, Denver, Green Bay, Minnesota with Darnold. I am not jealous of teams like that.

So we give him props with a mid QB but don't subtract for a HOF RB?

He won 2 play0ff games, in the same season 6 years ago. He's a "mid" as you like to say coach.

Like the coach, really good coach, hate hate hate the process, especially when it leads to a guy with major ties to the organization. Total sham of a search for a "Patriots guy" they pre-decided on.

But he's a good coach....

But is this the best choice? No idea cause it's definitely definitely the worst possible process they could have used to hire him.

No i don't subtract for a HOF RB

running backs don't win you jack shit overall...if the Ravens finally break through it will be because Lamar Jackson took the next step not because they have a good RB

You're simply not comparing to the majority of coaches in the league. Most coaches would kill to have 4 winning seasons and an AFC title game appearance with Ryan Tannehill. The Titans have been even more dysfunctional since they fired him.

Sports Hub reporting Wolf will keep his job.

That weasel (their adjective, not mine) needs to go.
"Mike the job is yours but we can't afford to blow out Wolf so you're stuck with him"

Well, at least the players will be held accountable and the free for all locker room shenanigans will stop. Vrabel has done the job before and will start holding these guys accountable.

But the pocket book needs to be open, and Kraft needs to spend.

Go out and get a good defensive coach and OC. Don't f*** around.

Am I the only one that would have preferred Johnson over Vrabel? Vrabel could be good, but Johnson I think will be a very good HC.
Why deal with Johnson's growing pains? His offense is set up for a weak armed QB while Maye has a cannon. He probably isn't available for another month.

Vrabel is proven that he's not an awful coach Johnson easily could be great coordinator terrible coach. No need to take the risk. McDaniels and Saleh are both proven as well.

He'll have to learn how to turn chicken shit into chicken salad unless the Patriots head chef starts using a new cookbook.

Maybe in a vacuum. But NE/Boston is different, more intense than most places. I think Vrabel’s experience as a HC and his knowledge of this market gives him a significant edge…..for this team.

If we’re talking somewhere else, maybe the gap is a little closer.
