Nah they spent like 4 or 5 seasons grooming Mayo to be the next guy. He wasn't just a stand-in/fall guy.

In doing so though, they forgot to check if he could actually coach. Given he pissed off the entire locker room like 4 weeks into his first season and it assumingly only got worse from there.

True, but players also often don't realize that fans have spent decades of their life and many thousands of their hard-earned dollars on a team too, and they do have the right to express their displeasure when the team f***s up...and make no mistake, the Pats f***ed up today. I live in the Boston area and these fans are FURIOUS. Are they spoiled brats? Definitely. Would I be doing the exact same thing if I were a Pats fan? Definitely.

Totally understand. But, they shouldn't be expecting players to tank. Cause, they are the ones who will be looking for a job in 2025 and what kind of film will they have put out. GMs and HCs are always looking for either high IQ players or high effort guys to fill out their rosters. Need to display that on film, especially when you are out of the PO. Shows that you don't need extra motivation to play the game and that your head is in the game regardless.
