Patriots/NFL Patriots hiring Mike Vrabel, a franchise Hall of Famer, as head coach

Maybe next time try not going 2-6 (2-7 if you include the wild card loss) against winning teams there, Jimbo.
Going after Harbaugh is a bit of a weird flex. He had an immediate impact in year one and his QB let him down yesterday. Everyone loves Herbert's ability but dude never won anything at Oregon either. Harbaugh can provide the necessary structure but ball is gonna be in Herbert's court going forward.

And no, Drake Maye is not better than CJ Stroud yet. Down year for Stroud after a MONSTER rookie season. In two years Stroud has been in divisional round of playoffs both times. I know that's not all about the QB but it's crazy to say Drake Maye is already better than Stroud. Maye had the luxury of zero pressure on him this year because everyone knows the team sucks. Let's see Maye in some actual pressure games where the Patriots are in the mix for playoffs first.

I been watching football since the days of Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr - my family has had season tickets since Billy Sullivan owned the team - this was one of worst rosters I’ve ever seen
This Patriots’ 2024 squad would give their 1990 ancestors a run for their money.

I really think Vrabel will turn this team around if the personnel department stops whiffing in the draft and free agency.

A big “if,” but I think there’s some reason to be optimistic.

I’m not pretending that there isn’t a difference between being a HC and being a scout/GM, but I feel a little better knowing that Vrabel will have at least some input into who they draft and pros they acquire.

They both had significantly better rosters

Herbert and the D front 4 specifically Bosa was hurt last year for significant time

Belichick 4 wins included beating 3 QB’s released who were backups - that 56 yd FG with 2 seconds left

He lost in 15 days to Sam Howell, Tommy Devito, and Gardner Minschew

They were soooooo close to losing them all

The Jets game with Zach Wilson should have been an L….they beat Pittsburgh with Trubinsky

I know the Pats roster is shit.....They also had a chance to correct some of that over this past summer through the draft and Free Agency and improve it. Kinda like Washington and LAC did.

Not sure why you keep getting hung up on Belichick and his last season in NE. Its irrelevant.

Would rather Johnson
I think most folks like the idea of Johnson. There was a report yesterday that claims Johnson is an introvert. I wouldn’t be shocked if after all this he again decides to stay on as OC in Detroit. He may end up being a great HC somewhere, and I wouldn’t have objected to his hire here. But considering the Mayo fiasco there was almost zero chance the Krafts were moving on another first time coach at this particular time.

I think one of the big questions is whether Vrabel learned anything from the failure in Tennessee. We'll have an early idea of that based on his coaching staff and potential changes with GM/personnel staff. If it's mostly just bringing back guys he's familiar with from the Titans, I'm going to be concerned. The issue there wasn't just Vrabel not having his preferred GM and not having a QB.

It’s not to me - I been reading his 4 wins and how they did nothing offseason

Tough to see North Attleboro to live

Heads up: you might want to put me on ignore I’m just warming up on Belichick

They won 5 games last year. Pretty decent improvement if you ask me.

We gonna shit on Washington too if they lose tomorrow? They won 4 games last year…

Pats fans should be jealous…
They are.

Really really really mixed thoughts on this one.
You'll have more accountability but will be bring them to the next level? He had one good run on the Titans and their offenses weren't exactly the 80's Chargers.
