Now I see why a team about to undertake a rebuild (Chicago) would not want this player as part of the rebuild. Hughes got fleeced. I would rather have Romanov.

Seriously he needs to sit.

Let's be honest though, I'm sure you'd look at your own posting history before his injury and your comments would have been the opposite. A lot of teams make significant mistakes in whatever state of their teams life cycle they're in. His effort level tonight was brutal, but I wouldn't throw the towel so soon after the good things he's shown since the trade.

I mean Chicago also gave up on Strome for no reason at all so I doubt they big brained that move. Hard not to think about how we could have maybe gotten an actual top 6 center on the assets used on Dach and Newhook.

Waive him. Sunk cost at this point. Bad skater, bad defensively, not physical and to boot he has bad attitude and terrible body language. Living embodiment of a sandbagger. Not a player that deserves to wear the CH.
He's made of glass and coming from a long injury. There's clearly a mental block to his game right now -- and it isn't unusual coming off a big injury -- and he's super frustrated.

There's no need to take any action at this time other than benching him. He needs to be scratched for a game or two. This team's culture has to change.

Dach and Newhook were HuGo mistakes but it's not that they're tied to us for 8 years.
Anyways, they're our tank commanders who will allow us to get much more talented players, so it's crucial that they play out their contracts.

Doesn’t hit.
Doesn’t skate well.
Frustrated.

These are effects of the injury, but the clock is ticking.

Laine is a puzzle piece that’s coming back soon (he’ll have his own issues on returning).

At some point the this season they’ll have to stick Dach between Laine and (Newhook or Slaf) and decide if they have their #2 center. If not, shop or pick their bridge solution.

Dach and Slaf have 1 goal, after 20 games and 17 games respectively. They should be ashamed of themselves. Even Armia and Dvorak has 2 goals, Anderson and Heineman have 4 goals. These players don't play on 1st or 2nd line, and they almost have no PP time at all, unlike Dach and Slaf.

If we pro-rate, Dach will end up the season with 4 goals, and Slaf 5 goals. And they have plenty PP icetime.

Beyond the lack of production, what bothers me is the lack of effort. Dach seems lazy and not involved.

Too many passengers getting a free ride this season.

The way Dach is playing he should be no where near center.
I don't know what to do with that guy.

Personally, I'd have put him at center with Slaf and CC. See what happens. If he can't produce with those guys after 20 games, we know we have to move in another direction. We've been so patient with Dach but there's only so long you can hold out. He's the guy we're counting on to be our 2nd line center and we're playing him on the wing. That's not a good situation.

There's no way Jake Evans should be our second line center.

this.

I think Dach can be a good winger and he's shown stretches of good production so I think KH just needs to hurry up and decide Dach's positional fate if he can't get it going

If they felt he could handle it he would be there. We are last in the league(or close to it) and they won't even give him his own line. He is too passive, flubbing passes, late on pucks, and no physical game.

I went to the Hawks board a while ago and asked them about him and they described the same guy we are seeing now lol. I am always leery about young talented players who get traded away. There's usually always a reason, Zegras is another player that people screamed for on this board and that would have been something lol. Pierre Luc Dubois is another. Teams don't give up on those levels of talent unless there are cap issues or issues with the player.

Thing is, we don't need to move on from Dach. Keep him as a winger then... Get a solid 2nd line center to get us through this period until Hage comes up. Dach can always be subbed back in later.

I understood us waiting for him last year. It was another rebuild year and that's okay. But him coming in this season as bad as he is... two years without a decent second line center is not good. A good second liner would make all the difference.

Gorton already said a couple years ago when dach was moved to the wing on the top line that they still envisioned him at center for the long run.

Not sure if anything changed since then, but I would rather see him at center and work his way out of this spell.

His troubles right now run deeper than whatever position he happens to be playing.

Well that's what is being recommended here. Put him at C, give him the time, and if he doesn't show any improvement then you move him to wing

Nah. We saw what he could do before. He looked like a great player on his way up. I couldn't care less what Hawks fans said about him.

That being said, he's nowhwere near that player now. Things aren't what they were, they're what they are. And if we don't have confidence enough in him to be our 2nd line center, then go get one.

Laine can play there or we can move Laine up to play with Nick and have CC bolster the 2nd line. Right now we're trying to spread it out and it's not really working. We're having some decent games but...

Jeez LG, you don't give up easily lol. I don't see a center and you do so I am officially leaving this hill and I do care about what opposing fans have to say about former players, it helps me understand things about them. cheers.
