Or maybe Laine pulled himself out to save the tank??Fair.
MSL is to blame then.
I think the TANK might be pulling the strings here. MSL just the scapegoat

Exactly the point, bottom six blows. Serious re-tooling is required and signing Laine long-term is now more questionable than ever. Hopefully, he comes back next game, scores a ton more until the 2026 trade deadline and the Habs turn him into 2 firsts, top tier prospects and future picks. That's cool and all but Laine took a couple of clean hits and he got injured.
Bodes well for the future. If he's not injured and MSL removed him from the game to protect him... says a lot about the player and the team.
Just target Laine if you're the opposite team, nobody is going to do anything about it.
I think Werenski's behaviour is inexcusable and shows an unprofessional like conduct on his part. Sure, your feelings got hurt but trying to intentionally injure your former teammate that you despise is gutless at best. Grow a pair and brush it off, that's what grown man do. It's not a boxing rink. Unfortunately, despite the league's best efforts to eliminate fighting in the game, old mindsets still endure and these situations still happen.
Like I said above, no one is going to attack DW from within the CBJ org., they’d be fired immediately. Laine is a player on an opposing team. That’s life, fair or not.Nobody has attacked Waddell on it here or in the press either. I'm not talking about the physical threat, I'm talking about the public outrage for one and acceptance for other for saying the same thing. Makes no sense.
If the observation was wrong, then it's wrong from both of them.
If the observation was correct, then it's correct for both of them.
That's how logic works.
Again, I'm not defending him for going on to the press and criticizing the Jackets like that. It was a silly question by some reporter looking to cause controversy and Laine fell straight into it.It's a contact sport, not figure skating. The Jackets finished their checks legally and he folded like a cheap suit instead of fighting through it. Now everyone is going to wonder if he was really hurt or if he didn't come back because he was a coward.
The reaction to Laine's shitty comments by the Blue Jackets is precisely what St-Louis always says he wishes his players had, BTW: a pack mentality.
That's what Columbus had last night. They are not a good team but stepped up and were extra motivated by Laine's classless comments. Even Dante Fabbro, a guy who wasn't even there back then, took part and played intensely. Can't believe we dumbly passed up on this right-handed defenseman, BTW. Another genius move by Hughes and Gorton right there.
Anyways, the recent events do, in part, explain how a player with such a gift for scoring ended up being packaged with a 2nd to be shipped out of town by the Jackets. Laine's got a shitty attitude and is soft. Hopefully he learns from that and comes out of it stronger. At the price we paid, I can't complain about having a solid goalscorer.
We have more than a full year to make that decision, let’s see where we, and Laine, are then.Again, I'm not defending him for going on to the press and criticizing the Jackets like that. It was a silly question by some reporter looking to cause controversy and Laine fell straight into it.
The Jackets knew he was mentally vulnerable and targeted him all night to mess him up. That's what I'm not comfortable with. Also, Werenski continued trashing him after winning the game. That's just not cool. The Jackets and Laine decided to part ways amicably and settling old arguments like that was just unacceptable. This is hockey, not a boxing match. The Jackets organisation should have brushed it off, but instead destabilized the Habs by going after their best goalscorer. For a league that is advocating for player safety, it's quite contradictory.
Anyways, as an organisation you realize you can no longer think of the possibility of signing Laine long-term. He's injury prone, soft and ackward. Best you can hope for is that he continues lighting it up and so flip him for top tier talent.
smartest post in a few hoursI'm not upset the CBJ players didn't like his comments, but lets get something straight and that's Laine's mistake was being brutally honest. He's going to come back, score some goals, and we're going to just move forward. This is a non issue
Might be a non issue… But CLB players were pissed off and wanted badly to win this game and hurt him in the process. We don’t know yet the nature and seriousness of his injury, but let just hope he won’t be away for too long.I'm not upset the CBJ players didn't like his comments, but lets get something straight and that's Laine's mistake was being brutally honest. It is very rare that players crap that hard on their former team. I think he was stupid, not brave.I hope CBJ Roster and fans are hurt and ego'd by Laine's comments, he's complete honest and I don't expect any other Finnish to act the same way if he were in those same shoes. People are soft now
They looked like a complete mess in CBJ to get laine to that point of wanting to be traded. I can care less about their ego's being hurt lmaoIt is very rare that players crap that hard on their former team. I think he was stupid, not brave.
There are things better left unsaid and Laine should know that. They looked like a complete mess in CBJ to get laine to that point of wanting to be traded. I can care less about their ego's being hurt lmao
I get that, but what is wrong with small talk that cause a little head shake? Exactly TOO SOFT.There are things better left unsaid and Laine should know that.
Well it's official that Laine is blessed with the ability to shoot a puck because he is a f***ing idiot."We were hitting him in specific places, and the Blue Jackets players knew exactly what they were doing... And it had an effect, he was forced out of the game."
I think that, most likely, someone somewhere said that he shouldn't be sent back into the game.
The goal was to get him out of that game." - Renaud Lavoie
"Marc Denis: "It seems your team targeted Patrik Laine tonight. Does this have anything to do with his comments earlier today?"
Mathieu Olivier: "No comment
Evidently the soft issue is Laine because they forced him out of the game.I get that, but what is wrong with small talk that cause a little head shake? Exactly TOO SOFT.
If i can get a "Hoe's mad" type of meme on Laine's picture, this is the reason for the meme to haveEvidently the soft issue is Laine because they forced him out of the game.
Was Laine accurate with what he said? Possibly but did he need to say it?If i can get a "Hoe's mad" type of meme on Laine's picture, this is the reason for the meme to have
It's quite evident there is always some locker room shenanigans and elephant in the room type of situations, and just to see Laine's perspective, it made a whole lot more sense in why he made those comments, They've should've been more open public to show support, it seems they didn't do that to Laine when he struggled. Let egos more hurt. Softies. Was Laine accurate with what he said? Possibly but did he need to say it?
but did he need to say it?
It was a sloppy game with barely any physicality. Goaltending was terrible overall.I'm a bit surprised at the reaction this has generated within the fan base. Considering the stuff players in other leagues have said in similar situations (past player facing former team), Laine's not saying anything too radical. Laine was just being honest and frankly him getting injured and some questionable defensive breakdowns and goals were what made the big difference than his comments pre game.
press did not help, but does not excuse PLNope.
And they don't need to ask those questions either, but they do because then they get clickbait and faux outrage when he overshares and agrees with Waddell.
