I won't go there.

Laine might be a zero for us, there's a reason the cost was Harris.

Yes. Favorable circumstances.

Demand was extremely thin because of his salary and offer was extremely high (in the sense that CBJ felt obligated to trade him before TC).

The return we paid for has nothing to do with his level of talent and from a pure level of talent, Laine is a good tier above those three (svech, necas and zegras)

But it has everything to do with the fact that he's already fallen off a cliff with two teams.

Not denying the talent.
Not denying that the past doesn't dictate the future here.

But pretending he will have a better career than Zegras is another ball game.

Given the proximity of the Laine and McGoarty trades, it would be safe to assume KH was in on him as well. Would you rather have Mcgroarty or Laine?
Habs were rumored in on McGroarty at the draft, once Hage was available for selection, that deal died

I’ll take « fallen off a cliff » ppg players over the « height of his career giving his all » players habs have been icing any day.

I don’t find pleasure at all watching after the 1st line these days, and face palm at special teams… Really looking forward to the next few seasons, even if this guy bombs it can literally not get worse.

Well,

Laine certainly had its deep low. Lower than the other 3, indeed.

But the high is also extremely high and higher than the other 3.

But yes, it is futile to predict anything because the possible outcome goes from an extreme to another with the possibility too of the in-between.

If Laine comes motivated, I see him easily putting up 30g thanks to PP. Slaf and Nick will be feeding those tight seam passes to one of the best snipers in the league. If Hutson makes the nhl ready to make an impact, that is one more player feeding Laine.....DROOOL.

It's not only the way Laine shoots the puck, it's also his pass receptions are insanely efficient. Cole is great, but his transition from pass reception to shot is so much slower than Laine's....and Caufield is already amazing at it.

I have never seen a habs team with this much forward depth and that is WITHOUT demidov, Hage and or other prospects in the mix! It's actually shocking how this team has been built so quickly and by giving up so little.
The best in recent memory is Koivu, Kovalev, Lang, Tanguay, Plekanec, Sergei and Andrei Kostitsyn, Latendresse, Higgins.

Suzuki, Slaf, Caufield, Laine, Dach, Newhook, Roy, Hage, Demidov, Beck....might surpass this. When you take into account age as well...that is some great offensive depth.

The team still has two firsts and two seconds next year as well.

That is such an awful lineup, it's no wonder the habs have been trapped in such a dark time if that is the best forward group in recent memory. The current group is already in another league compared to that mismatch of mercenaries and players who barely scratched 20 goals.

That lineup was one of the best in the league at the time, hardly awful.

So he just came off an injury and was in the player’s assistance program. Anyone know if he is in game shape?
