Just because you’d prefer to see a crap season doesn’t mean the “Media and Fans” were wrong for wanting to see progress even if it fell short of a playoff appearance.

The draft pick rank is a secondary concern for a lot of people including me. Progress would’ve meant more, so naturally it’s disappointing to not see any progress among many of the young players.

Laine’s presence is a bit of a game-changer because his shot is so lethal it’ll open up space as opponents try to manage their risks. It goes to show that we do need more elite talent but we also need our current players to be more dangerous and dynamic too, to take advantage of this opened up opportunity.

I see Slafkvosky benefiting a lot due to his pass-first instincts— he will either start to shoot more or he’ll dish the puck to Laine. All options are good.

I prefer to see a crap season? Not really. I stopped reading after that because you are purposely comprehending in a certain way to argue.

again KH did a great trade plus a 2nd

and posters said no :laugh: and that clown Engels Fat Tony called him our yesterday on that too. funny
If the GM was so interested in Laine, why did he try to get Nečas, Marchessault, even Zegras first? I think Engels was right, KH simply took advantage of the situation as teams didn't want to take on Laine's entire salary due to concerns about his mental health and injuries.

I said no to proposals that had us trading 1sts and top prospects for him.

Getting paid a high 2nd to take him is an obvious yes.
you bet....
KH kept his #1
you were bang on

engels was wrong
he said NO way will MTL make a deal for him.
plus you can't make a deal for PL until he came out of the program and CBJ allowed KH to talk to him before the trade.

The fact that he have been 2nd overall pick in 2016 draft and Nick Suzuki is from 2017 draft, it's like having two young veteran. They are in the same range of age.

Laine should easily get a 6 years extension.

He is a better mental shape, better environment than Winnipeg and Columbus.

Laine is very hot and cold. He's hot right now. Be prepared for when he's not.

Also, the tank isn't being ruined. They'll still finish in the bottom five. There's no way Nashville, Detroit, and Buffalo stay down here with us.
You haven’t happened by chance to have seen Buffalo play lately?

Honestly I get what he's saying but he's being too hard on himself, he's not doing the leadership thing he's just letting his bad brain talk to him and that's a tough pattern to get out of. I hope the team recognizes that and keeps nudging him the right way

source: I have a bad brain

His demeanor is much lighter these days after a loss or when he's being critical of himself. He'd be much harsher previously and you could see how it would weigh on him when the team wasn't winning. He is used to winning everything, and being a key contributor. That's what he grew up to be and then the injuries started and took temporary toll on his ability to affect the score positively and win games for his teams.

It seems he has grown up more and has tools to deal with that situation better than he did previously. The shrink is doing good work.

I don't think he'll ever become someone who would not expect the world of themselves in every game, but it looks like he's learning to not let it drag him down with it.

This is him, after being selected MVP of the World Championships but losing the final. He hates losing and takes it as a personal failure. Today he is more mature.

All I am saying was Engels was wrong
The guys in the media who cover the team or work for a network etc are just fans like us, only they call themselves journalists, and get paid...........................and boy are they wrong, quite often.

Engels is a paid fan with a big opinion. He writes things that make perfect sense, and he writes things that can be laughable.....covering the team makes these guys unlikeable at times, because they become arrogant, and think they know everything because they literally follow the team.

There are posters on this forum, that can be every bit as articulate as those clowns.....

Laine wasn’t available to be traded

Pretty easy answer really

Teams can’t talk to players who are in the program and nobody was going to trade for Laine without being able to talk with him

Anybody else remember a time where it was written that KH hasn't made a good trade since becoming our GM? Cuz that shit was yesterday, ya yesterday...FFS.

Laine also nixed a trade to Flyers and another team (trying to remember which one).
