Player Discussion Patrik Laine: Part 2 - Healthy Living Edition

You would be completely right if both Laine and Dach don’t raise their level closer to their normal. I’m guessing that they will be different players in a good way, and Demidov will land in a good spot when the season starts. I guess that preseason games will give us a hint.

If next october Laine and Dach didn't improved, what Hughes will do or say? Stay both arms crossed and say to us I'm sorry it didn't worked as I expected? And he will have to resign next summer Dvorak, Armia and Evans cuz he will have no better option?

Newhook's getting 15min a night and is on pace for 22pts/season. Some of you need to raise your expectations.

Drouin is 17 pts in 19 games and +2.
Newhook is 13 pts in 50 games and -11.

I have seen almost every canadiens game with Laine this season. His 5v5 game is somewhat its always been. He is quite slow on transition and is mostly effective when getting the puck in speed. He can make nice quick plays for his linemates. Of course on the downside there are the silly turnovers while forcing the play. But i also think he isnt getting much help from Dach or Newhook. Neither one of them has shown any IQ and not really strong with the puck. Unfortunately it seems that Laine is the only one with any playmaking abilities in that line. But what makes Laine special is that anytime he has the puck something awesome can happen. Teams are full with players who just dumps the puck and nothing ever happens. Just wait the 4 nation championship and Laine with Barkov. He needs a center who can keep the puck and make plays.

Neither do I. I was going to check just by curiosity and I almost dropped my coffee. I looked again and again to be sure. and yeah, amazing and surprised.

It's not because they went 3 points in the last 3 games that they are not one of the best team in the NHL since his comeback. Even the best teams in the NHL have this kind of stretch. Habs are 3rd behind Oilers and Capitals since Laine joined in.

A team is the sum of its parts so I'll recapitulate what I said originally so as to not deviate from what was being cited.

Some teams can carry a one trick pony, Montreal as currently comprised can not. Mere observation should tell you all you need to know.
