Some people posted stuff about Barkov winning the "athlete of the year" in finnish sports awards as a first hockey player. What no one talks about is that Laine won a "courage" award for his speak and work for atheletes (and everyone else) mental health, had a good speech about it also for a huge audience.

His puck handling is a thing of beauty. Defenders clearly respect him and don't overcommit knowing they could be embarrassed. He's slowly starting to get up to speed.

In any case, what a steal that trade was. Complete robbery.
Honestly it’s a fair trade. Columbus is doing well without him. They got out of an 8m contract for a guy that asked to leave. They had to move him

Yes but not much after that. Easy to see how long injuries impact even the most talented.
One game does not tell the whole story

I know you're not completely down on them I just don't know why so many here has so many questions like what do people expect 100 point guy

Montreal hasn't had any stars for the last how many years up front

Laine is improving, also in his skating, he just doesn't have that confidence with the stick yet and lacks acceleration.
Yeah his skating is nowhere near as good as it once was. Like Dach it will take a while even if he didn't end up having surgery.

I'll summarize. He didn't play the last 12 games of the 2022/23 season (27 total), he only played 18 games in the 2023/24 season broken by concussion and 17 this season broken by flu. This has to be reflected not only in skating. You need patience like with Dach.
