Would a team have any interest in bringing Laine at 50% (aka cap hit at 4,35 M$) for one more year, to boost the PP, and if so, what is the return you would be willing to give?

Laine sure has a vibe... It doesn't look like he can be a leader in the room, to put it this way, he doesn't really care about defense, but God is he fun to watch on a Powerplay.

At 50% I can definitely see the Islanders be in on that. They finished with the worst PP in history.

He would I guess be one of the candidates to help get the 2C if a salary has to be moved, especially with retention.

It will cost you a 2nd.

Sure, there might be a club that will take Laine, got the last year of his contract, if the Habs retain and add sugar. Habs have a great young core. They could do something amazing this playoffs. Imo Laine should see the ice.

Why would the Habs do this? They don't need the picks, and he's likely not an asset in a package that will return a 2C.

The Habs see what he does next year (hopefully fully healthy) and replace him internally if need be. They're not paying to move him.
Laine return a 2C. No. But what would be cool is if the Habs go on a run and Laine scores a couple big goals to help. The Bell centre would be signing his name. Be very cool.

You're forgetting he has a no trade, or either a no movement. He controls everywhere he goes. He first was dealt to the wild and blocked a trade to MN.

Montreal record when Laine returned is 30-13-6. While he was out injured our record was 10-18-5.

You sure you still want to trade him?

He brings decent value to the team as a pure PP triggerman. Makes no sense to trade him away.

He seems to click well with the team too, i think he's happy here.

As bad as Laine is at even strength, their PP would be an absolute joke without him. He’s basically the only shooting threat they have on the PP. Caufield is a goal scorer, but mostly at even strength, and he doesn’t have a big shot. Habs aren’t trading Laine.
