Value of: Patrik Laine & 16 or 17 OA

Ok. Back to the OP's question.

How about,

To Calgary
Laine, Calgary's 1st, and Owen Beck

To Montreal
Rasmus Andersson
Jeremy Poirier
Any team in the league could beat that offer for Anderrson by offering a first without a 8 million dollar anchor
attached to it

I am sure CLB would take him back if MTL retained 50% and included a 2nd round pick.
This would be a lot more that Habs paid for ???
Why would they do that when they don't even need the cap space ?
Gezz people sometimes .....

Wonder what his next deal looks like if that’s the case.

Probably looks for a 1 year prove it situation, maybe in the neighborhood of 3-4M? Potted 20 goals this year but there’s obviously a lot of uncertainty there
I think it could look a lot like Jonathan Drouin

Nah, the Canadiens already have upwards of $20M in capspace for next year if they elect to use Price's LTIR space.

They can afford to let Laine finish-out his contract year, no problem.
I don't think so , PP his a lot better without him his attitude and locker room influence and 5 vs 5 terrible way of playing will take him out of Montréal this Summer

An anchor that can score. Never underestimate our leadership core and Coach Huska's ability to get the most out of his players.

I don't see the fit for Andersson from a Montreal POV outside of him being a right shot D. He hasn't been good enough defensively in a while to play the role Montreal needs filled. Rather pay more for a better fit or find a cheaper stopgap.

No, the OP idea was for the Habs to attach a first round pick with Laine to dump his contract. Most astute fans think the idea absurd - giving away valuable assets to dump 1 year of Laine when cap space is not an issue.
And Laine can be waived and sent to the minors.

When you're a Habs fan, your off-season isn't really complete unless you see some of your peers try to liquidate assets or entertain goofy proposals like a dusty rugs merchant in a bazaar.

"My friend, I swear it on my mother and sisters, this Laine is brand new and will bring great honor to your team!"

He can also, you know, be retained. Because Montreal needs scoring and as long as Laine stays in the lineup, he scores.
Idk I think even with the cap going up, 8M buys you more than 20 goals if you can spend it elsewhere.

That said, doesn’t really make sense for MTL to pay to move 1 year of Laine

Its not easy to actually spend 8M in a rising cap environment. If you want to spend it poorly then its easy, but then why get rid of Laine?

20 goals in 52 games is a 30ish goal pace. Sure the 5v5 play was pretty bad, but coming off a missed season and a knee injury for someone who is already a poor two way player is not particularly surprising. And that's still not production that is easily replaced.
