Sure there was. It was after he bit the fake.
What are you watching? All he did was pivot to protect himself. Laine is skating into him and he is just trying to go body on body.

He doesn't "lead with" or "extend" his knee, which is the standard for kneeing. Just going knee on knee does not make its Pare's fault.

I've been trying my best to stay quiet on this as emotions are still incredibly high but I will say that hockey fans as a whole are some of the biggest f***ing hypocrites out there.

Habs fans absolutely have EVERY right to be livid at this shit, although obviously there is no place for the death threats and going after his family etc..Idiots in every fanbase, we just happen to have one of the largest so there are more of them.

But the amount of Leafs fans all over socials calling us whiners, considering that a clean hockey play etc..

Could you f***ing imagine the reaction had that been Lucas Condotta and Auston Matthews? Think about that for a minute and ask yourself that question honestly. Would it still have been a "clean hockey play."? Would Leafs fans be "whiners" in that scenario?

Genuinely couldn't begin to imagine the outcry if the roles were reversed.

The hockey community might be the most toxic in all of sports. Hypocrites everywhere.

We can’t imagine the reaction, because Matthews wouldn’t be dumb enough to skate across the blue line like that in the first place.
Like I said earlier, when Perry injured Tavares and Gionta injured Reimer, you lot were all about accidents and intent.

Now all of a sudden Quebec wants to declare war on Ontario.

I’m just surprised nobody called the police on Pare.

You are right. Both fan bases are awful & hypocritical. If the situation wad reversed we would likely see the same arguments from the other side.

I hate both teams (Montreal a bit more after hearing about threats and the doxing) so I feel like I can be a bit more objective.

CLEARLY Wasn't a kneeing penalty. People here seem to think that any knee on knee contact is against the rules - which is not true. Pare just pivots to go body on body and Laine skates into him. Laine should keep his head up and protect himself.

But the lesson here is definitely that both fan bases suck.

You can't run players like that when you're a bum-ass like Paré, and than expect no réalisations from someone like Xhekaj
Instead of blocking Xhejaj's Fist with his head, maybe he should have manned Up and accept to pay the price for the shit he did
Case in point.

Yeah, looks like another typical case of Laine trying to dodge a hit he has no hope of dodging and getting injured in the process. How many is this by now in his career, half a dozen? I don't get how he can still have so little awareness of what's going on around him.

the victim blaming in here is f***ing nauseating.
Lots of habs trolls.
But alas, fanatics of most teams don't place themselves in the shoes of other fans.
Would love to see the reaction if Condotta had stuck out his knee on Marner and blew it out.
I know what the reaction would be.
Knee on knee are never clean.
As a habs fan who had hope this year, a lot of it went up in a puff of smoke in the 4th period of Laine's play here. 4 periods total.
Habs have had the most man-games lost to injury collectively the last 3 years.
Of course habs fans are mad.
Pare can smirk and be dismissive all he wants post-game, it was a dirty f***ing hit.
I suspect the NHL will warn both teams before the opener

The last time the Habs tried to goon it up as a squad…it ended pretty badly.

You can try, but I’d have the Montreal Police on standby just in case the red, white and blue need protection.

Must be pretty difficult to run at a player from a standstill 🤣

Hating both fanbases makes you the specialist in objectivity.

maybe the dumbest post in this entire thread

Imagine comparing laine to matthews…

Yea I agree, after this injury and not even making it to opening night, Laine likely never finds his groove. He is just too aloof, beats to his own drum.

Yeah...my post is dumb.

Hating both teams and fanbases fairly evenly does add to someones objectivity.

You can take issue with my opinion but it is clearly not based on bias. You know, like I don't have a dog in this fight.

Work on your reasoning skills...

If we’re going to use the same logic Habs fans are employing, then this too is a malicious deliberate hit.

Poor Laine. I hope that his injury isn't as serious as that looks.

Regarding Pare, I think the knee-on-knee was largely an accident and not entirely Pare's fault. It's a 2 minute minor at most. Where Pare really screwed up, IMO, was by not fighting. That was cowardly and stupid.

Comes with the territory. It is what it is , lots of good fans too, the frustration from the fanbase is also understandable. We don't have good things happen to us offensively for a long long time now , but boy can we draft a goalie
This habs fan that started watching in 1972 and is happy the team is finaly rebuilding, too bad part of the rabid fan base makes it hard to cheer sometimes.

They seem to have forgotten sending death threats to reimers wife a few years ago.
