Newsflash: if you try to duck out of a hit and don't completely do it, you expose yourself to a knee on knee hit. That's not a hard concept to grasp.
Newsflash: when a player decides to try and get out of the way of a hit, the other players knees aren't there. That's why they look at whether or not the player extends his knees outwards. That's not a hard concept to grasp.

He lead with his knee after he got out of position because he couldn't handle the pace Laine was entering the zone. It's on Pare to make clean contact. He didn't. No penalty undoes the knee-on-knee and no one pays to see Pare. Where is Pare on the Leafs depth chart? Seriously.
way down, not sure where because James Cameron is busy

Some of you

??? what? Even if this is a season long injury, Laine is not anywhere near good enough a player to elevate a team to the playoffs single handily. This is one of the craziest things I’ve read.
Competing never claimed they will run away with it. He is a star player that will miss significant time. If Matthews or McDavid are out for the season would Edmonton or Toronto still compete for the cup?

He went straight at Laine. So because Laine is soft as baby shit and tried (and failed) to get out of the way, the guy has to abandon the hit? Lmao. This isn't like the NFL making QBs a protected class. Just because a player makes millions doesn't mean they should be protected from themselves.

Guess what? It doesn't matter who Pare is. And only a fool would pay money to see Laine, because he could manage to hurt himself taking a pregame nap.

Yeah, the difference is that Bertuzzi drove Moore's head into the ice. Xhekaj was never even close to doing that.
Intent vs. outcome

Bertuzzi probably never intended to hurt Moore the way he did—but he landed his punch and that led to Moore slamming into the ice.

Xhekaj probably did not intend to hurt Paré in such a way either—but he missed with his punch. So instead everyone just shrugs off the moment.

Hockey is a game of inches and when it comes to connecting on a blindside punch from behind—that’s the sort of inch that can have very different outcomes.

Laine moves his upper body out of the way but not his lower body. Obviously your bias can't see past that

(and no, I'm not a Leafs homer. Look at my post history, I shit on them more than some of their biggest haters)

OK lol. Keep smashing those keys. Some day you might actually be right.

Brutal. Hopefully it’s not as bad as it looked and he can return to play sooner than later. Lots of hope for him playing with that surrounding cast in Montreal.

It would be better if Laine is out so that Leafs and Habs fans can troll each other all season
Laine could play 82 games and not keep Leafs and Habs fans from trolling each other all season.
