This.Matthews will become the best American-born player ever.
This.Matthews will become the best American-born player ever.
All said and done at the end of their careers I think Kane ends up as the best winger we’ve seen in a while.
You just can’t ignore the Cups of which he was probably the most important member even with Toews and Keith.
So him.
At the end of the same year as Matthews current season, Kane finished 9th in league scoring, had broken 70 points 3 consecutive times, won 6 playoff series, put up a Conn Symthe worthy playoff run, scored the cup winning goal and won a Cup, let's see how Mr 1st round exit stacks up.
I mean Matthews could end up better but you gotta be a massive fotmer or homer to say it's the likely outcome. Kane got one of the most dominant seasons in the last 20 years or so, a Smythe, cups(cup winning goal), all-star selections, over a ppg in 800+ games, the freshest commercials and so on and he might not be entirely done yet. It's just bonkers to bet against that unless we talk a McDavid level talent that already has a couple of trophies under the belt.
Can't believe Matthews is winning the poll.
let matthews win a cup let alone 3 before you can even put these two guys in the same sentence
Matthews has the potential to surpass Kane, no doubt.
But a lot will have to go right for him to do so. Health, team success, linemates, etc.
Kane's career so far has been amazing.
To add to the previous lists of his accomplishments, Kane is 3rd all-time in playoff OT goals.
Since he entered the league he's only behind Ovechkin, Crosby, and Malkin in points and he's younger than all of them.
Over the last 4 years, he's the #1 point producer in the NHL.
Can Matthews do it? Yes, but it won't be easy.
While impressive, that OT number is 5. For context Marleau has 4.
Kane's career getting seriously overrated in this thread.
Yes he has cups and he was a huge part of that but at the end of the day that's still a team accomplishment.
His Art Ross season was special but outside of that he's mostly been a PPG winger. Which is good, but hardly unbeatable.
Who is going to be the better player of these two?and why do you think so?
People are presuming he'll stay healthy. Big presumption. For the sake of The Game, I hope he stays healthy. It's iffy. How the hell is Matthews winning this?
