Top active American forward, at least in terms of PPG, only 26 and already has a Conn Smythe (could make a case for 2), 2 Stanley Cups, and Olympic silver medal, the Calder. He's maybe the most dynamic shootout shooter in the league, always a threat when he's on the ice.

"Oh but he doesn't play defense"

Who cares? He's an offensively dynamic RW, defense is not his job.

Patrick Kane, a Buffalo, New York native, is the first US-born player to score at least 20 goals in each of his first 8 seasons in the NHL

.@88PKane joins Denis Savard (10) as only @NHLBlackhawks to begin career w/ at least 8 straight 20-goal seasons (Savard: 10 straight w/ CHI)

Bucci tweet surprises me

Could also make a case for zero. Most Hawks fans wanted Keith to get it that year. Someone should post that graphic that shows Kane gets by far the easiest minutes of anyone in the league.

2010 Hawk fans in varying #'s had 5 different guys they thought were worthy of MVP discussion (Keith , Toews , Kane , Sharp and Bolland)

2013 most people felt Crawford was robbed

In the end it doesn't matter as Kane won in 2013 and nothing changes that

Keith deserved it more in 2010 than 2013 IMO (although he was a candidate both years). Not only did he play better, but look at the offenses he faced.

I remember hearing more Byfuglien than the those last two. IMO Keith should've won it

Phrased that way because Brett Hull's birthplace.

Damned impressive feat though.

If he stays healthy he'll break his career mark for goals. More of a sniper this year than years past.

It sucks that Kane and Toews had their best statistical years in the lockout since people can just pretend it doesn't exist though ("he didn't even score 70 points!")

Say what you like about; "easy matchups", "plays for stacked team", "% O-zone starts", "not as good as Kessel" etc...that's fine. The overwhelmingly majority of Hawks fans know that we have a truly dynamic superstar in Kane and it's going to be awesome to watch him play another 8 years for us. The guy is an elite player, I've yet to see any arguments that refute that.

No guarantee they would have continued at those paces though. Kane only scored one less point through 47 games last year than he did in the lockout season, but finished the year with "only" a PPG in 69 games. Though, with the down year from the center experiment season before that, you're right that his totals do underrate him. He's basically a PPG+ player and has been since his 3rd year, but has only the one year over 80 points to show for it.

"Under rated".

Half this site treats him like Jesus reincarnated. Yes he is good, but..

He faces 2nd pairings
His team is the best in the NHL, and he has lots of supporting players.
He plays the PP with a top 5 center and norris winning D.

Don't want to open this can of worms but Kessel has been on a cold streak for 2 weeks, has 4 less points, faces top opposition, and plays with worse players.

Great player, but pretty clearly over rated on here.

This is an embarrassment. He also plays with a revolving door of linemates and teams simply have a tough time with matchups against the Blackhawks in general because of their top 6 depth. What's your point anyway? His track record is, at this point, beyond reproach. He's quite likely one of most consistent playoff producers in the game.

His repeated consistency and performances in the post season negate any bs minutes argument you're trying to throw at him. Kane is a top flight winger, and it isn't his fault his coach utilizes his talent properly. You really think moving Kane to Toews' line and dropping Hossa down wouldn't produce similar, if not better results for the Hawks? They would basically be wasting Hossa by playing him away from Toews, where as Kane has repeatedly shown he can produce regardless of who is centering him.

Case for 0? You feeling ok?

Context aside, he's not wrong on that point.

To add to the earlier tweets about 8 years of 20-goal seasons:

Sportsnet Stats ‏@SNstats 1h1 hour ago
#Blackhawks Patrick Kane joins Rick Nash & Alex Ovechkin as the only skaters with 20+ goals in each of the last 8 seasons.

Kane is good defensively now and has been for a few years.

Kane is not good defensively. No Hawk fan would ever say that. Granted, he's not a total liability, but he's a long way away from him being "good" in his own end

He's not a liabilitt, but he's not great. He's definitely not nearly as bad as he used to be. Coach Q puts him out there against the other teams when they have an empty net, mostly because of the fact he doesn't float anymore

I can honestly say this might be the best non playoff hockey I have ever seen from Kane and think 40 goals + 90 pts is very possible if he avoids injury

Well, he is old. :sarcasm:

Most exciting player in the league, IMO and has been for some time.

Pulls off rec league moves regularly...against the best players on earth.
