Come on now....I just answered the question.....give me the credit for the research....As far as Kristo is concerned....I know you did get the fact that I just put it for me...it's not REALLY on the list...Can,t believe they didn't graduated Miller though...He'd be on my team.
I'm a big Timmins fan. As my avatar says, he is my MVP. The fact that he is the 2nd best guy to have given NHL'ers to his team is CLEARLY a testament that we had bad to average guys in the management. You don't constantly provide NHL'ers to not see them being players for us, or at least great pieces in trades for other teams. We had at one point to have become a contender. And we didn't. Yet, the best of them have some more quiet moments. And that 2008-2011 is his "quiet moment". And again, not entirely his fault, with so little picks in 2008 and 2010.
I always appreciate your passion WS.

As you say - a lack of high picks from 2008-11...and even more importantly, some less than earth shattering drafts in terms of overall depth, will likely result in Timmins and co. not being as prolific during that period as the past two seasons..when he had TEN top 90 draft picks. Between 2008-11 he had SEVEN top 90 draft picks.
Those were not banner draft years rounds 2-7 from 2008-11 either, and the Habs over four years had a grand total of 4 top 60 picks Even worse? Five top 78 picks over a four year period!!!! The Habs had 9 top 75 picks the past two drafts!
Despite those obstacles - Tinordi, Gallagher, Beaulieu, Leblanc, Dumont, Kristo, MacMillan, Nygren, Bennett, Dietz, Nattinen...even Didier and Ellis can't be discounted either as possible NHL candidates. Perhaps no stars will come from that period, but none were top 16 picks either.
I would not describe it as a "quiet period" even if I know where you are coming from. I think the job Timmins did during that period is underrated. No top three pick like 2012...TT had more second round picks the past two drafts than he had in the previous six.
Anyway - the rule of thumb for starting to fairly judge prospects is usually 5 years. We are only now starting to figure out how good Kristo will be..but even that is up in the air. It's fair to say the club didn't have a great draft...but it was a crappy draft, the top pick was 56th overall and the Habs had two picks in the top 117, and 5 picks overall.
The 2009 crop? Fair to start judging them next season. For me....Louis has this season to get things figured out and start fulfilling his potential. If he's still a minor leaguer next season it will be fair to start considering him a disappointment. Tinordi has two years to figure it out, Beaulieu has three years...I see them being solid NHLers when their 5 year window is up.
Look at 2007 as an example. We started to see Patch, Subban, and McDonagh's true potential in 2011-12 - their fifth seasons after being drafted. Actually we didn't really see PK's true potential perhaps until last season..6 years after.
You go back through drafts and you'll see that most players not picked in the top ten take five years or more to start reaching their true potential.
