Patches for captain

i think Patches could make a good captain one day, stands up for his team mates, defended his little buddy DD when the media was going crazy. But not next year, not sure who should get it, maybe Pleks by default. Let the players choose next year, that would tell alot about who the players respect in the room

I find it pretty amazing we share a trait with toronto - we'd be hard pressed to decide who should be our next captain.

It's just that they don't have players that fit the bill, and we have too many.

My pick would be Plekanec, but I think this time it would be fair to let the players vote.

I now agree 100%. Subban isnt ready, Gorges lacks that little extra wich commands bigger respect, Markov isnt very vocal and perhaps even interested, Pacioretty is the man, and I think it could pay off as well he is gaining lots of maturity, is a big tall dude with loads of talent, is able to talk when needed, this role could motivate him and bring him yet to another level since I think he is the type to thrive on the challenge because he wants to become better.

Good news is the habs have quite the core of leadership on this team. Between Gio, Pleks, Gorges, Markov, Patches, PK etc, there's no shortage of names that can and would be great captains. I think the letters will go to a mix of young and older players i.e. Pleks C, Markov A, Gorges A, eventually Patches, PK get letters when the older players slide down with the next generation sliding forward like Tinner, Gally, DLR, etc as the next wave.

This team has a good core of leaders across all ages which is probably what helps this team win and why they have so much character.

He does, he has an A for the home games, Pac has it when they play on the road (when Gorges is out of the lineup).

I don't see why Pacioretty should be captain.

Yes he stood up for his bestfriend....but never did it for anybody else.
He critize coach's decisions in the beginning of the season....criticize the fans too.
Don't seems to be most vocal guy in the room, at least from what we saw on 24CH.

But other than that, i just don't want to add any kind of pression on the guy. Captain
usually stand in front of the camera when things go bad, and i don't want him to take the heat off. That can't help him doing a better job on the ice.

He got many years ahead of him, might became the man, but for now....there's players in this room that diserve it a little more than he did and that have been around for many years.
