Laval Rocket: Pascal Vincent Named Laval Rocket Head Coach

No way is MSL getting fired next season, the only way I could see it is if Hughes makes some really big moves that they feel would make us instant contenders (it would have to be some off-season for that to happen) and the team just sucked ass. Even then though, what a year it's going to be to tank, although I suspect it will be a strong race as teams fall over one another to out tank each other since there are so many shit teams in the NHL.

His Jack Adams award nomination is a death sentence. He's going to get fired very soon.

No it's not.

The firing rate is the same as the general one (nominated vs unnominated). Coaches simply have a very short shelf life in this era of guaranteed contracts and NMCs.

Hughes is an uncommon GM, with an uncommon coach. So is Gorton as an executive. Uncommon people bring uncommon practices, so you can keep those fingers crossed if you're wishing for his departure.

I doubt Saint-Louis does less than 5 seasons at the helm.

MSL is one of the three finalists for the Jack Adams Coach of the Year award. It would take a total collapse for him to get booted next season

Maybe Vincent prefers to be next in line in Montreal? Why go away when you can eventually get the same thing at home, with players you already know?
I think he's 10000% lining up his cards like this juuuust in case yeah

The list for next Habs coach was already small enough as it is, but you could do a whole lot worse than being the AHL coach already waiting in the wings

I'm a strong believer that some coaches are better for some types of team, but this whole discussion about replacing MSL for Vincent or anyone else is just premature. We aren't close to have to make such decision.

Would love to keep Vincent around for as long as he want, but I would also understand if he just accept an NHL job elsewhere. Who wouldn't, and by all accounts he's an excellent coach.
