No more Sylvains please. :sarcasm:
Lefebvre was the original chrome dome, followed by baldy Houle and the departing egghead, Vincent.

Also a staple in Laval, there is at least one obese assistant behind the bench, in support of the follically challenged head coach.

Huge loss. Should have replaced MSL. At least would have been better as assistant than the other morons behind the bench.
MSL needs a strong right hand man who's a defensive tactician and can help him adapt in game. More like an associate coach than assistant. I'm still not convinced that there are any Quebecois coaches out there that would be better options for the habs

Wanted us to promote him but cool for him !

Sylvain Favreau turn ?
On 91.9 FM late afternoon, they rattled a few names, including Robitaille who is coaching in Russia, Yan Laperrière, Daniel Jacob and wait for it … Alex Burrows (who remained in the Habs org as advance scout).

He should have been brought up to assist MSL, who is not well seconded by the current people. MSL needs a new consigliere who actually knows tactics.
He figured his path to NHL head coaching job is easier over there. Few coaches last longer than 2-3 seasons, but the situation here with MSL is different.

Between those names, Burrows would actually be my 1st choice but don’t think he wants to go back in coaching yet

We might see how he loved some of the players we had in Laval.....might have some say in some moves....

Marinaro doesn't know Favreau....but he knows that the Habs liked him. Wouldn't be surprised to see him.

Both Robidas and Letowski are safe I guess, little Marty wants to be surrounded by his friends not competent people. The fact they’re both useless circus worthy dummies is no big deal, barely an inconvenience.

All I know is that Vincent played a system that I prefered to what the Habs are playing. So he might have helped at certain places.

But I bet there are plenty of guys that can be defensive tacticians from the Q. We just don't know all the names. But we know that both guys that are supposed to be helping Marty right now are not doing it. I know that Joel Bouchard who was with us before was a defensive-first coach back in the day. But assistants don't have to be french.

Great article..with some strange things in there (like calling Jean-jacques Daigneault a great hockey mind..lol), but the names in there kinda of all makes sense. Yes, I know....french names and all that...still, those are very good hockey minds....

Names in case you can't access that:
Serge Aubin, SC Bern
Ron Choules, Lions de Trois-Rivières (ECHL)
Benoît Desrosiers, Islanders de New York (LNH)
Sylvain Favreau, Voltigeurs de Drummondville (LHJMQ)
Daniel Jacob, Rocket de Laval (LAH)
Stéphane Julien, Griffins de Grand Rapids (LAH)
Carl Mallette, Dragons de Rouen (France)
Daniel Renaud, Cataractes de Shawinigan (LHJMQ)
Louis Robitaille, Omskie Krylia (Russie)
Mathieu Turcotte, Sting de Sarnia (OHL)
Gilles Bouchard (Phoenix de Sherbrooke)
Benoît Groulx (Ev Zug)
Marc-André Bergeron (Estacades de Trois-Rivières
Éric Veilleux (Remparts de Québec)
Gordie Dwyer (Regiment de Terre-Neuve).

Are the 3 names I’m more interested in

probably likes tough players and understands how to make in-game adjustments, can't have that here. Will never replace the legend we have now who's success depends on a goaling keeping a ,945 Save Percentage as the gameplan

Leroux saying that Ben Groulx, if he's interested in returning to the AHL, and Sylvain Favreau are two names that should be at the top of the list for Laval coach.

Marcotte yesterday tweeted that Favreau really impressed Montreal/Laval during the last round of interviews before they hired Pascal Vincent.

And Marinaro has also mentioned that he thinks Favreau should be the favorite.

Favreau seems like a no-brainer to move up TBH, already coach of the year in his junior league, experience with the national team, bilingual, etc. He should be climbing the ladder and coaching an AHL team is the logical next step.

I guess Daniel Jacob would deserve a look as well, now that I think about it, if they want some continuity. He's been an AHL coach for a long time now, he certainly knows the league well.

Why not assistant with the Habs instead of Krakens ? MSL wants to run the show all by himself ?
