Lindblom has never actually played poorly at any stretch in his short NHL career. Hakstol just demoted him for reasons. It’s not like he doesn’t play heavy or defensively responsible.

Lindblom was invisible way more often than he was visible. Hopefully that’s changing, but he lost ice time for a reason.

He was “invisible” because he wasn’t scoring while getting 8 mins a night with fourth liners. He was always playing fine and he was playing well and scoring when he got demoted.
He had a couple good games mixed with a majority of nondescript performances. He was not making the lines he was on better, which you’d think he’d be capable of.

You keep saying this but it is not true.

He was producing as a 2nd liner at ES when he got demoted. Demoted for Weise who is now in the AHL I might add.

As Appleyard showed, play him, and he produces.

Lindblom had a small sample of points. If you think he played consistently like a 2nd liner on a Cup contender, I fully disagree.

Hakstol was the one who put him on the 2nd line at the end of last year,
Lindblom started well, hit a slump, got demoted when lines were being shuffled, Gordon kept him on the 4th line for a couple of weeks, then he got promoted and stepped up his game.
Pretty normal for young players, development isn't linear.
The real problem wasn't Lindblom, but finding a spot for JVR.

Even in those 8 minute a night games he was rock solid defensively and rarely made a mistake. He has never been a detriment to the team when on the ice unlike several other forwards this year.

Wasn't grizzled or veteran enough. That's why he got demoted. Couldn't have Lindblom showing up the veterans.....

It’s cool that “development isn’t linear” can be used to excuse everything from why Nolan Patrick isn’t John Tavares yet to Dave Hakstol is a moron.

If Hakstol was an idiot, he wouldn't have gotten to the playoffs 2 of 3 years with a mediocre team.
He may have had his share of flaws, but he wasn't the horrid coach people make him out to be.
The team, other than the goalies, has played worse since he was fired.

Lindblom played 14:35 last year under, ahem, Hakstol.
He played 12:39 in October, 12:31 in November, seems signing JVR cut into his minutes for some reason.
In December under Hakstol he played 6g - 9:18; under Gordon, 7g - 8:33.
In January he played 14:14, primarily b/c Giroux moved to center so he moved up the food chain.

Patrick played 15:30 a night the last 32 games of last season
He was playing 15 minutes a night under Hakstol, in January that fell to 13:22

Is this why we are better in pts%, pk% AND pp% league-wise than we have been (comparing Gordon games to Hakstol games this season)? It's just Hart?

Per nhl.com data,

Before the 18th of December we were 28th in the league in pts%.
From Dec 18th on we are 6th

Before the 18th of December we were 29th in the league in pp%.
From Dec 18th on we are 11th

Before the 18th of December we were 30th in the league in pk%.
From Dec 18th on we are 17th

That makes as much sense as saying "Just Hakstol"...

Arguing for Hakstol is like arguing for parachute pants and 8-tracks, you’re just on the wrong side of history bro.

Yeah that was all Hakstol last year. Who cares about the career years Giroux, Couturier and Ghost had.
Pittsburgh won a lot more with Dan Blysma who was a God awful coach. who was overrated by the national media.
Just like Hextall and Hakstol were by the national media.
