We won't win too many games if we solely rely on one line. I honestly did not think Giroux had that good of a game, but really, the other 3 lines didnt do **** all game.

1) The powerplay is getting figured out. Pressure Giroux means success. Timonen isn't making a difference. Voracek hesitates to shoot and Hartnell and Simmonds won't make plays.

2) Briere should help the second line. Our lines 2-4 we're very ineffective offensively. Lot's of hard work, no scoring chances created.

3) Defensively this D looks great. Grossmann is awesome, Meszaros looked fine and Schenn showed some promise. Coburn needs to get his skating back, he looked unusual slow today. Timonen really shows his age, imo. Foster was ok. We need someone to move the puck.

4) Laughton was very good. Concerning strenght I think he looked like he belonged. No one really knows conditioning-wise. Also pretty physical.

5) Simmonds still needs to cut down on his stupid deking and spinning around. Straight forward game is needed from him.

6) Read played well above his size, some nice hits.

Malkin and Crosby were nowhere to be seen though. Couts may not have had much going forward but he was exemplary otherwise.

Those pps sucked some balls. Wellwood looks better in the NHL than the AHL. Rinaldo is a beast. Foster is super soft. Hartnell was invisible. Laughton looks like he belongs.

Anybody else think Crosby was ******?

Things are NOT going my way this weekend.

I think it was really positive after the first they just didn't finish. Simmonds was beasting he deserved that goal. That's just the way bounces goes sometimes (off Schenns and Adams sticks)

Hey we got hockey back and they play again in less then 24hrs. :)

I though this went okay. Letang is still a diver but who cares about that greasy haired clown. I though the third and fourth lines were spectacular. I really wanted to see a fight today. Oh well maybe Rinaldo can punch someone tomorrow.

Positive :

Bryz was good.
Laughton, although you could tell he was a rookie at times, was pretty impressive. Loved his intensity.
Hartnell and Giroux still have a good chemistry.
Simmonds played very well.
Crosby was invisible.

Negative :

Lines aren't very good.
Many bad passes on the PP (trying to pass it through the middle, then the Pens just have to poke it, wth)
Rusty looked pretty rusty, I've seen him play better than that before.
Couldn't find the back of the net, too stressed in front of it or idk.

Bad start but once we started playing I thought we looked good. Just glad to see them play again.

The team didn't score on 5 powerplays (4 if you blame Lavy for the last one).

Lavy isnt the reason they lost.
There's a big difference between "the reason they lost" and "cost them a shot at the tie."

Lavy pulled Bryz too early and of course that BS call for the Pens (their PP goal) was the deciding goal.

But at the same time, they should've showed up for the 1st period. These poor starts are killers, we can't keep going down 2 or more goals and expect to win. That **** won't work this season.

I actually liked what I saw out of Luke Schenn. Brayden...not so much.

Tough loss Flyers fans.

I only watched the 2nd and 3rd but if the Flyers keep playing that way they might just be the team to beat. Bryz was great and the defense seemed flawless in the last 2 periods and the offense was dominant. I never realized how well Simmonds can carry the puck into the offensive zone and control the play too, has he always been like that or is he just developing very well?

Tough loss. I despise that team

Bryz scared me a bit on a a few saves, but overall I was pretty impressed.
Really feel like they missed Briere especially on the pp. Outside of the G line, zero offence was created.
Schenn to me added nothing to the top line.
I think we are expecting too much out of couturier. He didn't score a ton last year, an improvement would be awesome but I'm not going to get carried away
Simmonds was the best forward besides Giroux.
The first period was beyond painful to watch. Bad passing, fanning on everything. They truly looked like a team who hasn't played in many months
Foster is hilarious. He got drilled half a dozen times. Big guy falls hard

Yeah, he was getting his ass crushed by Matt Cooke.

What I took from the game:
1. PP needs work
2. Chemistry seemed a little off
3. Laughton looked very good
4. The defense and Bryz played great
5. Brayden and Coots look like they're still in the AHL

I think things will get better as the season progresses. Overall, I'm happy.

repeat of NJ series last year, much of the game, Bryz was our only player who was playing at a high level.

unacceptable.

Simmonds looked good , Laughton, too. G did, too.

wish they would have plated harder for 60 minutes. jesus.

Simmonds looked awesome in this game. Schenn and Couturier, not so much. I really dont like the decision to put Schenn on the top line wing. I like Voracek a lot better there.

All in all though, that wasn't a bad game. The team as a whole looked really good outside of the first period. If bryz can play this good most of the time, I think this team can compete for the #1 seed. The PP units need work, and I'm not a fan of Briere but he's an important piece there, admittedly.

Right now the most concerning thing to me is Schenn and Couturier. I hope they shake it off and rebound

Not really. Typical of you to give it a bryz-only spin.

They didn't play a full 60 minutes but the team as a whole looked good for two thirds of it.
