One book I highly recommend is Go The **** To Sleep by Adam Mansbach.
There will be many, many days you will want to say this out loud.

Mine weren't/aren't perfect and I'm not either, but then no one is. People are generally a product of their environment and with some exceptions the apple generally doesn't fall too far from the tree.

In my personal and professional experience, smart parents raise smart kids and idiots raise idiots. R.soles raise r.soles; and so on and so on. You can't choose your parents which is a real shame unfortunately, because some kids have a hell of a lot better prospects in life than others, regardless of socio-economic standing.
