Proposal: Parayko to the Jets

ooof, that's horrible for the Jets. I understand the Blues would want a haul in return, but that's just completely unreasonable.
Funny thing is the Blues wouldn't accept this either. 2025 draft is apparently very weak, and the jets will have a late draft pick so that 1st is not very good. Perfetti is also not needed by the Blues. Very weird trade proposal indeed.

What if we up The deal to be more like :
Parayko NMC + Thomas (no trade protection)
For
Yager + Salomonsson + Lambert + He OR Walton + 1st 26 + 1st 27 top 3 protected + 1st 28 top 3 protected.
STL gets a lot of quality futures in draft Capitol, 4 of the best prospects the Jets have but clearly signal rebuild (Parayko also has to waive so there's that). They'd then also be likely scorched earth moving Binnington etc but could be really good again in 3-5 years

Jets get Top RHD and a 1B Center to slot behind Scheif. Instant contenders for the next 3-5 years. Mortgage the future for the rest of Scheif/Helleys window as they will ALL be on the decline in 3-5 years.

We’d be juggernauts for a few years but it doesn’t fit with what Chevy does. He purposely keeps the pipeline above empty so we avoid a rebuild scenario, and we need that glut of ELC talent to keep the cap under control. The only time he traded a decent prospect that didn’t publicly demand a trade was Erik Foley to St. Louis as part of the Stastny trade. Armstrong wanted Foley specifically, despite the fact that he was injured and never ended up playing another hockey game. Keep in mind that we can’t attract UFAs, and the crash would be long and ugly, which the team can’t afford to do.

Or we could become Ottawa, Detroit and suck for a decade plus.

The guy has already won a Cup - has a full NTC and I don't see him waiving it for Winnipeg. (sorry jets fans)
Not sure why not.

He is from a small Canadian town. He played college hockey in Alaska. Jets are a top contending team. He just played with Morrissey in the 4 Nations. Lots of reasons to waive than not.

I just dont see the Blue trading him while still contending for a playoff spot.

So now the Blues give up their best d-man AND best forward…two top of the line-up players…for…for…futures?

The Blues would rather have first liners than magic beans…regardless of how many youre throwing their way.

That's a full on rebuild move. We don't really need that. Not going to point into value or what fits etc. Those are probably two players that the Blues have 0 interest in moving to try and get things right.

We probably could've entertained a rebuild about 2-3 years ago. Not much of a reason to do so now, our amateur staff has done a really good job along with our pro scouting to bring in a lot of youth that should be filtering in the lineup the next couple of years.

Moving Thomas and Parayko puts us very much into a Buffalo situation where we have an abundance of youth but no direction.

Just don't see us trying to tank our way to the bottom to play for 2030 hopefully with a new GM coming in and the previous one sticking around.

Would Blues fans rather trade Buchnevich than Parayko?

If so, what would be the price on Buchnevich? Seems like a potential Ehlers replacement if he walks after this year.
