If they go low

We go lower

Yall are nutty.. Ekblad deserved the suspension and I would have preferred a fight over that elbow
If looked at one isolated incident, I'd be 100% with you. But we have so many other hits over the last 4 games to compare it just does not make any sense.

To me the ranking would look like the following (from worst to "best"):

1. Mikkola: Girgensons was almost on the floor, Niko had enough time to make a different decision, and still decided to go through with full power. Clear intend to injure for me. If he had got 2 games, I would not complain. Lucky thing is that Girgensons did not really get hurt on the play

2. Hagel: Interference and hitting the head at the same time even involontarily is always one of the worst. But he had a clear intention to hit our captain hard while he was engaged with another player and not doing enough to avoid head contact. If Barky had been hurt longer, he would have got more than 1 game suspension, and rightfully so

3. Tkachuk: the call on the ice was right, and also that there was rightfully no suspension. He clearly knew what he was doing, noticing that Guentzel was not paying attention and having intend to run him. Without that and a little less time between the pass and the hit, it would have been a perfectly clean hit.

4. Ekblad: his hit makes me think of the Kuli suspension on Sheary where he got 2 games, hitting him with full force with his shoulder into the head being the principle point of contact while Sheary had a bit lower body position and was making a play with the puck - with 1 big difference: Hagel clearly should have seen Ek coming, but he looked at the puck and took no position for bracing himself. At some point, the player has some responsibility as well. The hit could have even been much worse if Ek had hit him with the shoulder.

To me in the end, the most critical thing is visible intent / time to react / position of the other player. Not necessarily the point of contact or velocity.

So in the end, it's is just the DOPS screwing this up because you just cannot see any logic behind their decisions when you compare the incidents. It just does not make sense to give Ek two games for this looking at the whole context. Otherwise the suspension would be justified.

logic is they have to gradually raise it to stop it getting out of hand

I expected a game, cause he got his forearm too high, with head contact.

The 2nd game has to be due to trying to send a message to the Panthers/both teams in a sense that these aggressive hits if not executed correctly will result in a decent punishment. Or Hagel really got injured.

I know I'm not supposed to this but ...

I really love one of our Panthers knocking out the guy who hurt our Captain and threw a hit that was way too hard.

Tells them that there will be repercussions for their actions, we didnt always have guys like that on our team who cared. Nor did we have guys on our team who made other players pay for their actions. I love it. Love me some EK5.

Agree. Remember the times for Booth getting destroyed and nothing done etc

Funny thing is people think losing Ekblad will hurt us. They dont know we have our secret weapon Ballsack :sarcasm:

I'm just a dumb Floridian and don't know hockey but this hit from Rielly looks even worse than Mikkola's hit. He only got two minutes, we'll see if anything else comes of it (spoiler alter-he plays for the Leafs, nothing is going to happen)

No, Mikkola's hit was worse. Girgensons was down, already on the boards, and Mikkola smoked him. I don't think that Rielly play was that bad... Chabot made zero effort to defend himself while playing a puck in the corner, knowing he had Rielly right on his back. Rielly could have made that MUCH worse, and didn't.

Rooting for Ottawa, but the NHL got that one right.

yeah I think this is one of those situations where Chabot has to take some responsibility too. You can't just turn your back 2 feet away from the boards while battling for a puck and expect not to get hit.

Hagel wasn't tossed and got a game, so apparently that is just flat out incorrect.

Hi,

I wanted to apologize for the warning which I had removed. Was in regards to the refs shaking hands. It's not really an issue if used but was more about the timing of when Hagel got concussed. I personally don't have an issue with it. just trying to keep peace on the mains.

Thanks, but IMO you have nothing to apologize for. I think we had a laugh at the fact that we were asked not to post the images, but also, I appreciate that you were trying to avoid a mass infraction episode.
