Lightning were the analytics darlings this season. That's why so many predicted them to beat the Panthers in five or six games. Also, they absolutely thrashed teams during the regular season.

I think the 2022 Panthers team is too fresh in my mind for me to have fallen for that one, though.

Coming from the Caps board to congratulate you guys on the series win, I said that I didn’t understand so many people picking Tampa, since I feel like the Panthers have to be considered the best team in the playoffs until someone proves otherwise, you guys are just beasts (I’ve posted here before saying the Panthers are my second favorite team, moved from the DC area to SW Florida about a decade ago).

I hope the Caps and the Cats play this year, since that means we both make the ECF, but I’d be a bit scared haha.

I don't begrudge anyone picking the Lightning, because they were much better in the regular season. The Panthers looked like shit for much of the regular season, Ekblad was suspended, Verhaeghe ate a forbidden donut, Balinskis looked AWFUL, and Tkachuk is clearly not healthy.

Ekblad is still suspended, Tkachuk still isn't healthy, but apparently Uvis Balinskis only shows up for playoff games.

Wonder what surgery(ies) he'll have in off season

He has a torn groin and apparently its a grade 3 tear. Surgery needed, 3-5 months. Rumors are he was in Germany in March seeing the same doctor who is trying to fix Auston Matthews f***ed up wrist. Guess would be for plasma injections. Like Matthews, watching Tkachuk it is clear hes badly injured but IMO hes still bringing it. If he was healthy it would make them unstoppable, but oh well.

I could see why so many picked Tampa in 7 - expecting a very close series where the healthier, less worn down team wins (although, that’s betting against PoMo in a game 7 and we know the stat for that).

Just finished watching the game, Marchand was outstanding, what a game by him!! If he is going to play like that for the rest of the playoffs, I like our chances alot now.
Honorable mention to Listerene. The third is shaping up to be the backbreaking line for us.
