The offense is more concerning than giving up 3.

Sure, coasting or whatever, but it's been cold for a bit. Something has to start clicking before the playoffs. I don't believe it's something as simple as turning it on in 3 weeks without the guys putting in more effort.

Lmao. If this team plays to their capabilities that’s going to be a slaughter.
I don’t know about that . I’m pulling for you guys now that you added Marchand but the Leafs seem different this year. I thought the Panthers mailed it in today . Panthers will need a healthy Tkachuck to get by Toronto or Tampa . Marchand looked a little slow to me today .

The leafs play different. They’re still the same losers. If this team plays up to their potential they are the best team in the east.

Would you believe me if I told you our goals for ranking is the same as last year? It may go down by the end of the season but it won't be by much.

Our PP is 11th this season when it was 8th last year. But the dropoff is to be expected considering the absurd amount of PP goals Reinhart scored last year (also missing Tkachuk)

Look guys, either they’re truly getting fatigued in which case they’ll make the playoffs and be out in first round regardless of opponent. Or they’re doing a calculated energy conservation because teams DO run out of gas in the playoffs.

Especially young teams who simply don’t have the stamina. Remember Eetu in his first playoffs? He could hardly skate anymore after the regular season was over. Barky’s first playoffs was also ruled by fatigue.

Given all the recent history, the two SCFs, and given the experience the coaching staff brings, I would be absolutely shocked if they aren’t in energy conservation mode. They’ll move from green to nuclear when playoffs start.

Then I can’t wait for the playoffs to start because they’ve been playing very boring hockey for weeks now.

And I will feel better when Tkachuk starts skating.

We need a healthy Tkachuk if we want to make a long run or even just win R1.

The last goal we gave up was awful. Nobody knew where to go or what player to cover, 6 chicken with their heads cut off. The second goal was bad luck. We could have won this game with a tad more luck and execution.

What's crazy is how bad our offense is overall right now. The only ones delivering are Barky and Reino. This won't continue, we will be better in the POs when the second, third and fourth line will take turns chipping in the timely goals. So I am not worried at all. Is it fun to watch the team right now? No. But it doesn't have to be for the rest of the regular season

I see the overall stats, and sure, they are close to last year. However, the team has scored 4 goals just once in March.

Sure, when the playoffs start, most of the time, scoring drops a tad and it becomes tigher.
Just a shame guys like CV are still AWOL from scoring like he used to.
Reinhart not repeating his goals from last year was expected to me.

They've also blown 2 goal leads and/or failed to close out games in the 3rd when tied.

This team has gone to the Finals 2x in a row, so, they aren't the spring chickens of 2015 where this is their first time playing in late april. But just stinks seeing them blow winnable games, when seeding is on the line.

I don’t think this team cares about seeding tbh. This is the one year where it really doesn’t matter lol. Last year it did because we got to play a beat up Lightning. This year, the Lightning is good, Ottawa is looking pretty decent, and the Leafs you never know.

People need to get off their high horses with losing to Montreal. They’re a lot better now than they were over the last couple years. And we’re down some big players until the playoffs.

Make the playoffs, get healthy, and play who you have to play.
Seriously, one cup and we forget everything. This fanbase was humbled for far too long to be acting this way.

Right now I wouldn't want to face the Canadiens or Senators in the playoffs. Both teams are hungry and have gone from being laughing stocks to the real deal. They're only going to get better too.

The way this team is playing right now and the total lack of offense is very concerning. Ekblad is a big loss but he doesn't move the needle that much scoring-wise. They scored 4 goals only once in March and that was against Buffalo AND they gave Reinhart an empty net to score on in the last minute. This is a problem. A big one. It's too long of an ongoing trend for it not to be.

I understand getting Chucky back will be a boon for the offense but expecting him to be 100% and the team to suddenly click and turn it around is ambitious at best. The boys need to figure it the f*** out. They're clearly frustrated as well with Mikkola's bush-league shit at the end of the game yesterday. No excuse for that nonsense IMO.

Get back to your tough, basic, grind-it-out hockey that has lead you to success. Maurice must be having fits with some of the games they've played lately. I get the point about energy conservation but you can't just forget about playing fundamental hockey.
