Post-Game Talk: Panthers get utterly blown out 2-1 by Kings

They need to take Tkachuk off of that line. I don't know why they put him there in the first place. There is no chemistry. It's like the coaches are a person playing a video game, and just put as much highly rated players together as possible.

Something is up again with him IMO.
Was clicking for years with Bennett and then this past stretch of both being black holes on both sides of the ice.
I got moving him with Barkov to see if anything could happen but yea looks like just keep him off Barkov's line unless it's the powerplay

Feels like we might never get 2022-23 level Tkachuk again. It's weird cause if you look at his 2 seasons after that one, his shooting%, possession stats and hits are largely the same (apparently hes recorded more hits since that season, which seems hard to believe based on what ive seen). He's also played with mostly the same linemates. Bennetts production hasn't changed much at all. So it's not like 2022-23 seemed to be a statistical outlier, especially given the fact he had a 100 point before that.

But he just doesn't look the same since that season and I don't think I could pinpoint something specific. But everything from his physicality to offense is just not as noticeable, and statistically, it only shows in his raw point totals.

Right now, he looks like a 34 years old version of himself.

I think he will bounce back. But I agree, we will never see 2022-2023 level again.

And you picked the Kings to win?

WTH, ban this idiot.

Granted in was against a lesser opp but that line was running circles around the Ducks the night before. But yeah Paul should have switched it up at least at the end cause they had nothing.

This is how I see our current d-core with what their ideal spot should be

Forsling (#1) - Ekblad (#2)
Mikkola (#4) - Kulikov (#6)
Schmidt(#6) - Balinskis (#6-7)
Boqvist (#6-7), Bjornfot (#7-8)

With Ekblad injured we have one top-pairing guy, one middle-pairing guy, and a bunch of guys who are bottom-pair/replacement quality.

Balinskis is a good #7 but with our lacking defensive depth and with Ekblad injured he’s getting badly exposed.

Bjornfot may have potential to fit in as a bottom-6 guy eventually but right now he’s also getting exposed as being a replacement guy playing with another replacement guy

And then you got Nate Schmidt who is playing an expanded special teams role with Ekblad’s injury, which is a really bad sign.

We do need an upgrade at defense for sure but I’m not sure I feel like anyone we could get at the deadline would greatly improve our team. We’ll see I guess

Lots of the fanbase needs to come to terms with the fact that some nights we are going to put it in cruise control to avoid burn out. Its clear we try against teams in conference and in division.
Agreed but also, there are some legitimate concerns on whether this team could have another deep run. Our GA and PK is 2022-23 levels of bad. I know we made the finals that year but competing with an underdog nothing to lose mentality is a different headspace than going for a 2nd cup in a row

That being said.. the fact this is our main concern means we're in a pretty good spot.

I just hope the games are more entertaining going forward honestly. Cause this lull of ours has been boring to watch with the exception of seeing a few of the young guys blossom.

I used to check the Pens board occasionally when they had some Czech guys playing for them. "Crosby sucks/doesn't care at all" was a very popular topic over there. Sometimes because of the trees we fail to see the forest.

NGL, at times I'm concerned by their play. Still, they're relatively safely in a playoff spot, and conserving energy makes sense. I guess we'll see where they're at come playoffs.

I'm fine with it, just show more effort in front of the home fans.
