Palat is still overpaid and we may not get a single 40 point season out of him (he has an outside chance this year if he doesn't miss any time), but since his daughter got out of the hospital he's at least looking like the 24-25 Palat and not the 26-27 Palat that he was for the first month and a bit of the season.

All of the sudden it's not looking like we may be able to get another year out of him after this year.

Visually they certainly looked sick, Keefe’s comments implied there are more sick, imo, and this is a virus that has been pretty nasty and spreading easily.

So I’m of the belief they have a lot of guys going through sickness but you can decide whatever you want.

Toffoli has 13 ES goals this year(about the same rate when he was a Devil) and is pretty mediocre at everything that isn’t goal scoring.

Palat has 10 ES goals and provides pretty good structural support along the boards and defensively.

I don’t miss Toffoli at all.

Talking about a guy who had a few good games lately is in no way tied to what the team needs to improve. Not surprised. He has been fine there. Not a liability at all. If we can upgrade from him in that spot, that would be great, but it's not the end of the world if we don't assuming we are upgrading the bottom 6 instead.

My bad, it was last 15 games he was tied for the lead league(now he's tied for 6th 1 behind the league leaders)

In the last 25 he's somewhere around 20th in 5v5 goals.

And like Haula, we need to see how he performs between now and the tdl. If Palat keeps playing like this, and if Haula can get back healthy and playing well, we may not need to upgrade either spot. If Palat struggles, and Haula doesn't get healthy or is not playing well, then those are likely spots Fitz at least looks to upgrade.

Toffoli is literally being out produced by both his current linemates by a lot…

Well they did say there were a few borderline decisions before the game as well…but I agree it’s a stretch to assume it’s norovirus or assume that’s been the issue since Christmas, that’s just confirmation bias imo.
