Bedard did pick up a couple of pucks in space North of center ice but he just can't accelerate enough for some reason and gets forced to cough it up.???

I mean... it was an absolutely ugly game that they really had no business winning. Mrazek is probably the sole reason they did win it. I don't see anyone complaining about the win, just discussing aspects of it.
But this wasn't some great chances Florida was robbed and robbed of games. Florida wasn't dominating control & getting tons of Higher danger chances. There were a couple netfront loose puck scrambles and that's it for most of the goal threats.

This was a defensive win, not just some goalie win, that's what I don't get from those who watched.

The Hawks, the worst team in the league, beat the reigning Stanley Cup Champs and people have the frickin' nerve to complain about how its done......some of the people on this board need to up their meds.
I mean if you want people to just ignore how ass LuRich is just because the team managed to eek out a win good luck with that.

So as someone who loves the Hawks but never played/doesnt know details about coaching, what would you guys say is the main reason Bedard is struggling? I hear comments about line choices/crappy linemates/always faces the other team’s best players, but wasn’t that true last year too? Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance!

What f***ing game were you watching? They got DOMINATED in puck possession. Almost the entire game was spent in their zone.

The fancy stats back it up, as well. Scoring chances were 25-15. CF% was 61% to 39%. XGF% was the same. Oh, wow, they didn't get shit stomped in high danger chances. Perhaps because the Hawks were content to just let them have the puck the entire game, and collapse to the middle. It was garbage hockey right out of the mid 90's.

Partially sophomore slump and nobody has stepped up to help him much.

Richardson doesn't want players skating North hard unless they play lots of consecutive grindy shifts pinned in their own zone playing behind their own net or blocking shots.

They almost put 20 real shots on goal.

At home...

Again

The game that was happening, when you were inherent watching idk what, because you were complaining when they were up 1-0 and shots were even or shortly up 2-0 and they were done 4 shots, and the only real threats of Florida were off a Nolan Allan turnover. It was close. Yeah in the 3rd the way more talented team pushing pace created more, but still moneypuck or stats had it closer than you would expect the talent level to be. Hawks

If it's boring hockey... why's that bad? Building a team with young defensemen first, then need the offense seems a far better path than being the offensibe focus of Montreal or Toronto that is more exciting but leads to no success. I don't find technical defense boring of breaking chances. I mainly played goalie in hockey, but beyond that. Folks are saying this is bad for young talent as if Vlasic, Allan, and Kaiser aren't young talent. To me the rebuild is about the future of the dcore, that's where it will fail or succeed, this was a good win for that.

I don't think they are playing technical defense though. This evidence by how many back door goals or chances are allowed. WAY TOO MANY.
The best defensive play that I saw was Vlasic stepping up outside the blue line on a guy coming with speed. He angled him from inside the dots all the way to the boards, forcing Panther to dribble a backhander into the zone where Vlasic's partner was waiting.

Now THAT would have been a great opportunity for a quick regroup and rush the other but alas, it was not meant to be.

Vlasic's long stick and Mrazek cover up MANY defensive gaffes.

This based on the only 2 games that I've watched in full, and those were in person. If I watched more, I'd have a yellow legal pad full of needed corrections to their play-LOL (tip of the cap to Mike Murphy and Abby's old drawers)

Just IMO, but the talent level drives the excitement level. Can't win consistently playing high event hockey if you're way short on talent. In reference to comparison to the Kings above.
