I actually went back and looked at what I said in the thread after he was drafted and I compared him to Kane a lot, expected 70-75 pts as a rookie (he was on that pace) and said I had to see him tear up the league to believe he was generational.

Well Bedard scored 61 points in 68 in his rookie year with a dogshit team. Matthews had 69 in 82 with Marner, Nylander, Kadri and a still good JVR.

I'm not necessarily upset with his production, I thought he'd be a better goal scorer. Maybe he will when he gets some help.

Last year he was exactly where I thought he'd be points wise.

This year he'd be there if the shooting % wasn't unsustainably low.

Not really. He’s the only threat on the hawks. Maybe he should toe drag less and be a little more aggressive, but he’s a teenager being keyed in on by pro NHLers and nhl coaching staffs. Get him some real help and maybe things won’t look like this.

I've always said this is a good argument, and I agree.
This year, his shooting percentage is unsustainably low but the chances have disappeared over the last 5-8 games or so.
