Post-Game Talk: Panthers choke away 2-0 lead, lose 4-2 to NYI

If Marchand and Tkachuk are actually healthy for the playoffs, I'm not worried at all.
It seems like things have been very quiet when it comes to Tkachuk. Are people confident he will be back for the first round, or is it more likely to be later rounds?

I mean they take off like a full 15 minutes. That’s easily fixable.
I’m not so sure that it’s easily fixable. It’s mental, therefore it takes more than a stern yelling or a bag skate. This team can win the Cup more than once. Maybe three or even four. But at least two.

I’m not so sure that they have it after seeing the last games. They gave up, stopped skating, went through the motions. I’m not sure they’re mentally strong enough.

It would’ve taken almost no extra effort to get 2-3 more points but these guys just don’t give a shit it seems, and neither does the coach.

It's actually a good sign IMO. It shows that he's not really concerned.

We had a bad month of March last year too. And I remember him talking like he didn't care and kept saying "They'll be fine".

Are you serious? They just won the cup and made it to the finals 2 years in a row.

If there's a team that can just decide to turn the switch on once the playoffs start, it's them. Just like teams like Tampa or Pittsburgh during their great years.

Like I said, I really feel like they will do just enough to win the division. If they get caught by Toronto or Tampa, they'll start playing with some urgency and go on a winning streak.

Also, I think it's a "calculated" risk to take some nights off. In the worse case scenario, they'll finish 2nd or 3rd. It's not like they could miss the playoffs.

That’s why I’m not really worried about winning the division or seeding. It’s all gravy at this point. We know they’re capable of playing better.

I was feeling this was during the TBL series last spring. the team just didn't look right despite winning the games handily. I complained at the time but they actually were gradually able to ramp up their game to the point where there was still more in the tank for game 7 of the final. I think they have a unique perspective now on how to reach the mountain top.

Yeah, I’m serious, and of course I hope I’m wrong. I would accept that they take a night off, which is what they did in Montreal, but why go through third periods like against Isles and Boston when they should be able to close the game but instead decide to coast? Just to show everyone that they coulda won it but didn’t bother to? Sounds insane.

I’m less confident now with the Ekblad fiasco and Jones not yet looking part of the team. Maybe Marchand is the guy who’s gonna come in and kick them in the ass.

The hardest lesson they learned was that showing up dead in the Final wont get it done. Vegas taught them that hard lesson

It's ok to feel nervous. We've been to the top twice, won once in 2 years. It's normal to want to get another one. I do. Some are forgetting during the lulls how dominant we've been at time THIS YEAR as well. Scapegoat Jones, or Ek or Ballz all you want. The bottom line is, this squad, at max effort is not an easy out for ANYONE. That is the truth.

I’d love to see how this team operates when everyone is healthy but it’s entirely possible that this entire season is complete without us playing our best possible lineup.

I think Ekblad is better for the top-pair than Jones is, especially while Jones is learning the system. I think he will be a little better once Ekblad is back and he gets use to the system. (And Ekblad stops role playing as Roidblad)

No Tkachuk hurts but we’re lucky to have strong forward depth, and we’ll hopefully have Marchand in the lineup in the regular season to get use to things.

heres the good news.. we could have won both the bruins and the islanders game.. .. btu we choked.. better than just flat out losing..... seee things are gonna be alllllriugh

On the bright side, Brindy said, “I’ll take Roidblad on my team any season, besides he didn’t get suspended 20 games”
