Post-Game Talk: Panthers beat Pens by a skate edge, 4-3 in a shootout

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I wouldnt call my words shitting on Lu. I just dont sugarcoat what I saw. He put up a nice save percentage, aided by his poor rebound control, and then allowed his agent, Gilles Lupien, to orchestrate his exit, yet acted as if he was blindsided. He's a good guy and probably realizes that forcing his departure was a mistake, but he is more a Canuck than a Panther as his time with the Panthers was largely meaningless. Happy he works for the Panthers and makes his life here, though, but not spending his entire career with Florida is his own doing.
This isn’t my take on what’s happened over the years; I’m not an insider, just a fan with access to public information for the most part, which is what my position is based on.

It wasn’t Luongo’s fault that he got a crap team in front of him when here; if he forced any trades, I don’t blame him to wish for a chance at the Cup elsewhere when it was completely clear he wasn’t gonna get one here (as a goalie). He was a goalie who could maybe win it all on a good enough team, and he almost did. So in retrospect his trade was a good choice for him.

And the trade was probably good for the Panthers too because he returned and got his Cup here as part of the coaching staff, making a real difference especially in the goalie department.

The hilarious part is Luongo had an offer sheet from Detroit in 06. Detroit was a f***ing powerhouse and he chose not to sign it because he wanted to stay in Florida.....a shithouse during those years. But then he was traded away to Vancouver.

Because of the agent he chose with directives he provided.

The offer sheet was after his trade to Vancouver.

This so incorrect lol

feel free to listen. It was all Mike Keenan. And Mike Keenan deserves zero benefits of doubt.

Luongo, through Lupien, kept upping the demands. Keenan became understandably fed up. Don't blame him. Roberto had done nothing to that point. The 2011 final is one of the more embarassing performances ive ever seen. Laughing at it through his strombone account doesnt make it any better. Then returns and gets outplayed by thomas greiss. Lu is this franchise's rogie vachon. A good player during a forgettable period. That his number is retired, having never won a single series, is symbolic of how embarassing this franchise was up until about 5 years ago.
