My concern with Knight is he seems very erratic right now. I am not a goaltending expert, but in that first period he looked like he was fighting everything. He was great in his last start, so I really don't have any explanation. I just hope he can get it settled, because when he's on, he's excellent.
I think he needs a starter’s schedule to be consistent.

With long layoffs, the slow starts are to be expected especially for a young G

The first Chucky goal was insanity.
I have zero clue how no penalties or whistles were called lmao

ABo on the pp starting to look good. If he can solidify his defensive game,

Swag-Barky-Reino
ERod-Benny-Chuck
Luosty-Lundy-Samo
Greer-Nosek-JBo
Gadjo

Forsling-Ek
Mikkola-Kuli
Schmidt - ABo
Balinskis

It's up to Samo if he sticks around past the deadline. The rest of the forward group besides that one spot is solid af. The defensive depth worries me though. Unless they bring in Provorov or someone who can qb the pp at the deadline, you really have to play ABo. They might just ride this one out without any major additions at the deadline, just depth pieces .

Some of the takes around here lately… My gosh…

Buying out Knighter, trading for Ristolainen, releasing Adam and all.

Didn’t you all chilled this summer and pointed your fuuucking finger to the fuuuucking sky Tkachuk’s style every day, every minute ?!

Geez Louise, breathe through your noses and not your buttholes for fuuuck’s sake !

Seriously… Never too high, never too low ! GEEZ !!

Those terrible takes on Ristolainen… I’ve been fuuucking annoyed all those years hearing people complain about Gudbranson, now Ekblad, and for the last two weeks I keep reading people who wants to take a flyer on a guy who makes Eky and Gudy look like Erik Karlsson ? What’s the matter with you people ? Blind ? Insane ? Desperate ? Stupid ?

I knew those first few pages would get me angry, okay now back to reading, wish me luck I’m only at page 3 and already want to murder someone.

Isles suck and we are a great team right now, simple as that. The way we played the 2nd and 3rd period was so impressive, a champion discarding a non-PO team.

I don't know why some guys gave Samo so much flak over the first 9 games. He definitely needs some more work on his defense game, but he had 1-2 great scoring opportunities in every game and he finally capitalized - could have had 2 goals with the rocket he fired of the far post. OTOH I remember how much people were complaining about Reino two years ago when he shot every puck of the goalpost or the goalie. If Samo turns out half as good as Reino he is an amazing draft pickup.

Kudos to Spencer Knight, did not let the 3 goals in the first rattle him at all! Perfect performance over the rest of the game. I find that this game was another proof for what happened with Bob over the last 3 seasons and resulted in his overall numbers to not be so great. The team would just give up so many chances, but overall Bob was almost always good and the numbers did not show the complete picture.

That third-pairing still growing good and steady.

They have been pretty consistent all year, getting better with each game, yet all we hear is how bad Adam is.

Nate and Adam are looking pretty good on that pair, a great THIRD-pair, let’s not forget that…

Looks like they can play our systems, and looking forward to see how they will evolve through the year.

Still not a fan of that Mikkola-Kulikov pairing, even though they got results lately after looking shaky and overwhelmed the first few games !

Greer has come down to earth a little bit, but still brings that energy…

Jesper is an amazing PKer and looks to have pretty good untapped upside !

Still not sold on Mackie’s release, and not buying the « crazy speed », but he is shifty and always had offensive potential, let’s see if he can improve enough to stick around…

If Nosek can come in and be a left-handed Stenlund, our PK will look marvelous.

Like a lot of posters around here, the only BIG question this year is if Balinskis or Boqvist are able to grab a top-4 spot long-term ?

In the short-term, that team still looks like dynamite and as good as the one we had last October/November !

LFG CATS GOOOOOO !! :P

They should split Mikkola and Kulikov IMO

It would allow both Schmidt and ABo to be the offensive driver on both pairings.

Mikkola Schmidt
ABo Kuli

I think the new guys have overall been pretty good. The two I have the most concern about are Mackie Samoskevich (not strong enough on the puck or on the boards) and Adam Boqvist (too many mental errors for my liking).

In both cases, I think we can see improvement. Boqvist looked very sharp last night, and I'm hopeful that playing every night on this particular team under this particular coach will help that side of his game. With Mackie, I don't know if he's ready for Panthers playoff hockey, I really don't. He gets bullied too much along the boards. Needs to work hard on that core strength.

I continue to have a great deal of concern about Knight, but goalies are voodoo magic I don't understand, and he's shown a lot of mental toughness in his last two starts. I'm buoyed by what I saw from him last night. I don't know if he needs more starts, or needs to stay where he's at, or what, but I'm just going to trust Roberto Luongo and hope it works out.

Erod the bod is rocking a solid -10 while Gusbus is at +8. Like how

A Boqvist with two apples in nine games and -5. The talent seems to be there offensively, a very good puck mover and passer but at some point he needs to produce.

I thought the Tkachuk goal was called fine. Varlamov speared him, Tkachuk shoved him around a little afterward. What's the problem? I'm not going to cry for every infraction against Tkachuk because he's a pest, but likewise I'm not going to pretend he didn't get speared.
Many on the main board didn’t see the Varlamov part, as surprising as that may be.

Dirrrty Cats get away with everything

:biglaugh:some entertaining takes in there

What happened between Tkachuk and Varlamov had nothing to do with the goal. Losers are always going to cry.

Anders Lee belly flopped on Spencer Knight. I don't think we even commented on it here. It's a f***ing hockey game. I get that a lot of fans want to see these guys in bubble wrap during the regular season, but come on, man.
