Rumor: Pagnotta: "Rasmus Andersson is open to a trade, he would welcome it" It would cost 3 assets...1st rnd pick, prospect, +

It has nothing to do with my initial comment.

So you want to jump in a conversation about Hage and are upset that I used we or us and then you avoid the question... Do you agree or not agree that most Habs fans do not have Hage on the table?

Come on man. You are better than that.

My offer yesterday was...

* One of our 1sts (More likely 10-18 range). This is likely the best 1st rounder you can get. Most contenders offer 25-32 range 1st.
* Beck or Mailloux (C or RD)
* Newhook (Young NHL proven piece who can play all positions)
* Savard (Flames get to use him for their playoff run)
* Conditions.. Once we agree on the pieces, Habs want permission to talk to Andersson's agent on what they would be looking for an extension July 1st. Deal might fall though depending on what they tell us. Maybe he wants to be in Montreal, maybe he doesn't.

If some other team matches or trumps it, we let them. That's as deep as I would go for Andersson.
The likely is no playoff run with Andersson. This deal doesn't even get considered until the season is over.

The Flames don't want two mediocre prospects. They want one better one. I would not take this deal from their perspective.

That being said, who knows, the flames scouting staff could see something in mailloux or even Beck.

Keep newhook though. He likely has negative value with his length of contract and play. He'd be blocking a development spot for Flames players.

Maybe you can stop with this "we" and "us" stuff. You're speaking for yourself and not the team or the fan base. You try to make it sound so official and it's becoming weird.

It's funny that Habs fans are obsessed with players' heights. You zero in on that, despite many other factors being relevant.
Careful guys, if you question him he'll threaten to ignore you! Then you'll miss out on all his quality posts!

It's not only the Habs fans. Most teams value the guys with size but also have skating/skill over the smaller guys. Especially at center. If you think it's only the Habs fans who do this, I think you should rethink it.

How many top 2C's in the NHL today that are 5'-9" and 180 lbs? Then quantify all the ones who didn't make it.

How you gonna talk about heights while also pumping the tires of Lane Hutson and Cole Caufield lol.

Fun to talk about as fans but doubt it happens this season. Habs will likely not trade either 1st until they know where they are and the challenge of getting permission to talk to Anderson (handshake agreement on an extension) is not probable. I know I made my pitch but I also know the probability is low

What I do wonder is what other players might become available from now till TDL and to draft day. Things can change.

First, not upset. I never spoke to Hage. In plain english I was telling you to stop talking like you're some kind of GM or that you speak for the fans base, and to stop sounding so nutty. This is the kind of shit that gives Hab fans a bad name.

Let me know when you want to answer the question you keep avoiding. Because this is connected to what you are talking about

Do you have Hage on the table and what grade do you have him at? You are basically calling me out at saying I am overrating him and it should be my opinion only, but what you fail to understand is most Habs fans like Hage a lot and don't have him as a trade piece to improve the team today.

Don't be afraid, tell us what you think about Hage. On the table or not and what grade do you give him?

OMFG you really are in your own world. I never spoke about Hage and now you're saying all this stuff that I'm calling you out on him. Get a grip and maybe touch grass. I keep telling you it's not about Hage but you simply don't want to understand. For the last time, it's not about Hage, it's about your nutty ways. How many people need to tell you this? Get a grip.

It's a simple question and the fact that your are ignoring it tells me something. All you have to do is answer it and it will tell you that my "we" or "us" choice of words actually does fit in this situation ;)

Have a nice day. Next time, if you want to belittle and not engage in any context, be more prepared. If you want it to stop, just don't reply. It's not complicated.

Guy wants to talk about "Ignoring" when he quiet literally threatened to use the "Ignore" function because he got called out for claiming Hage is an A+ prospect lmao.

It is kind of funny. Despite all the criticism, the Habs can't help themselves and somehow have ended up with tiny superstars for the last twenty years. Suzuki, Caufield, and Hutson are their top 3 scorers. Suzuki claims 5'11' and Gallagher claims 5'9'', but no one is buying that.

The Habs would obviously be interested, but if so are the Sabres, I don't see Hughes beating what Adams would field

A trade with Byram and Andersson as the main pieces and then balancing the rest sounds good for both parties TBH

If he’s traded he will be traded out west. So the Flames can live vicariously through Rasmus’s new team hoping he beats the Oilers.

Sounds reasonable to me, Byram wants to play LD, get more PP time, I think in Calgary he has a better chance to do that, probably.

He's not really as tall as the Canucks coaches tend to prefer, but he's such a thick stocky dude i bet they'd make an exception.

He'd be such a huge game-changer for the Canucks defence. Would instantly give them a second viable pairing. His cap number being so low is so hugely valuable as well.

I'd easily be into a 1st + good prospect + sort of deal. I think there's about zero chance they'd include Willander in the deal though, and even Lekkerimaki is supremely unlikely. So if Calgary brass were to prioritize more "near ready" talent over the 1st round pick, i'm not sure Vancouver can really compete with some other suitors. Especially since Canucks already presumably dealt the B Prospect defenceman the Flames coveted most in the Lindholm deal last year.

I understand he probably wants the max deal he can get in a growing cap. If so, Habs are not trading for the rental without a good extension. 6x $7.5M would close to what we offer. Do we go to $8M? Not sure. I'd be a little more worried about the decline at age 36 and 37. A contract until 35 is manageable for someone who should head into slight decline years from 31-35. Basically you get 4 good years and 4 more with modest decline but still a vet who does the job.

H Lindholm signed for 8x $6.5M but that was in 2022 with a lower cap. I believe his 8 year deal takes him to age 35/36 (Jan birthdate). $7.5M or $8M AAV might not be far off for R Andersson. Salaries will rise but not every single player will get a $1M-$2M boost. That extra cap space is more likely to be spend on players in their prime.
Lindholm is a pretty weird choice for comparison as he's not an offensive defenseman. He's only exceeded 35 points only once in his career. Whereas Andersson is an offensive defenseman and has surpassed 35 points 3 times and is once again pacing more than that this year.

But even if we do use that hypothetical Lindholm signed his deal for the 22/23 season where the cap was 82.5M. Agents negotiate with cap percentages, if you are looking at the same percentage as Lindholm it would 8.3M for Andersson. But looking at what even Hanifin signed for this summer (7.5M) that would extrapolate to 8.95M in 26/27 (the year his next deal will begin. Considering Andersson is both a RHS damn and better than Hanifin it is well within reason for him to get an even higher cap%.
