If his play has dropped off, then he may be more of an off-season trade to a non playoff team who needs veteran players and would rather move a mid round pick for his remaining 1 year rather than give 3 year term to someone else. As weaker clubs end up paying a premium to convince veterans to sign with them.

I just remember the Pageau playoff chants in Ottawa and Nick Cousins is out for awhile I believe. I was at the Isles game in Winnipeg and Pageau was a very effective player out there. But I didn't realize how Cap constrained the Sens are. There's no way to make that work.
