Sounds that way, but it's really just Forsberg and Johansen, who have only combined for 2 goals on the season. Team is still somehow around the top 10 in scoring.

Im curios to what Preds fans think about Pacs for Johansen in terms of value alone? Dont take org's need in consideration.

I approve of this trade if not solely for the fact that I wouldn't have to see Patches' pouty-stink-face as much any more. That would be a Christmas miracle.

Smart thinking for Nashville.
Start by getting Patches, then acquire Gallagher.
Sign Price as a UFA in 2 years and finally rock a Weber for Subban trade.
Looking good.

I was more projecting out the future. This year he is certainly not playing like a 30g guy and just like Bobby Ryan he is going to start dropping soon. There is of course a chance he can keep production going long into his 30s but I'm just going based on the average 30g guy who has about 5-7proven years through there 20s then goes to about 25 the next few years before dropping to the 15 20 range in the mid 30s. Most MTL fans have been open to the idea of trading him or want to. Even the ones that don't constantly complain about his play or production and call him the worst captain in history. It's hard to put value too high on a guy when you read fans actual opinions of him mod game.

so if I understand correctly you are making a value projection based on a 15 game sample but refuse to consider the last 4 years and the fact that he is in his prime years at 28? :amazed:

So after we project Forsberg as 15-20 goal scorer due to his poor start what would you add to him to get Emelin?

I think that's more "he's towards the end of his prime, and a seemingly-large definitely-loud contingent of Habs fans on the Habs board seem to really hate him of late." The combination makes for a dubious situation.

For the record, I don't agree with the "he's going to drop soon" assessment, but I can see where it's coming from. (Personally, I'd see that as more of a worry for a team that's got a much younger core, or one that otherwise wants to resign him. That would be less of a consideration for the Preds; this proposal is awkward for them for different reasons.)

From a Habs point of view:

Pass under normal circumstances.

Hard pass with the expansion draft coming up.

And its pretty nonsensical to talk about 28 yr old Patches being on the start of a decline, but Ekholm being only 2 years younger gets a pass. Especially since Patches puck possession type game tends to have a far more gentle downward trend in production than other types of games.

way higher? try watching a nashville game once in a while. ekholm may be the #3 on nashville, but he would be top 2 on 90% of the teams in this league (including montreal)

He'd be your best D-man so why do you guys offer up Nylander/Marner for him?

I watch pretty much every Nashville playoff games every year

Yes Ekholm is a good defenseman and would play on the 1st pairing in MTL but he wouldn't be the 2nd best d-man on the team maybe not even the 3rd best.

Petry is better than Ekholm, they are similar in their zone and Petry is a lot better at moving the puck/creating offense
Markov is having a great season looks better than he ever has in 3 years, he plays solid defensively and he's 1st in points for defensemans in the league (equal with weber)

You just don't trade a 35-40 goal guy for a 2nd pairing defenseman, he's not even the 3rd best defenseman on your team... please don't sell him as a top 2
