Tavares gets its winger on a good contract, and a young defenceman to soften the blow of losing Leddy.

MTL gets a partner for Weber, and potentially a second-line center for the team in the future.

Value seems fair but I don't know if I'd do it. Losing Leddy would create a huge hole. CDH has been really good but after him and Leddy we don't have much for the left side. Hickey is an Solid bottom. Pelech is coming into his own but he projects to be a solid bottom pairing guy.

Leddy is the only defenseman we have that can carry the puck 200ft with ease. He also can catch up to any forward if he gets caught pinching.

Beaulieu I'm sure would be a good addition though.

On the forward side Strome and Lee have been disappointments. Beauvillier emergence looks to be much needed but if we were to acquire a legit scoring winger like Patches is be willing to deal just about any young forward. So for me giving up Leddy would be the problem.

I'd do a trade like this in the off-season, but not right now.

If we traded Pacioretty we'd need to make another trade for a scoring forward, given we already need one right now.

If the Habs really want to trade Paccioretty, they would want offensive help now. I think the Habs think Stanley cup this year before it's too late. I don't think it makes quite sense for the Habs unless it's Nelson instead of Beauvillier. And trading our most talented defenseman?... Personnaly, I pass. Not a fan of Paccioretty even though he would be sure upgrade over what we have now.

I agree Nelson would make more sense, if we look at our needs.

is leddy that good? is upgrade from leddy to beaulieu worth the gamble that Beauvillier will someday amount to pacioretty?
Bergevin doesn't do this either

This trade upgrades our D, but destroys our left side up front.

we would be left with Beauvilier, Lehkonen, Car, Byron

so basically 3 rookies and a 3rd liner.

Also if patches consistently put up 30-39 goals for 5 years in a row... playing with freakin Desharnais... how many do you think he would score playing with JT.

I would do

Pacioretty + Beaulieu
vs
Nelson + Leddy

Habs would have to add a bit though.

Value seems solid, but both sides likely decline. It'd fill holes on both teams by opening holes on both teams. Though the logic behind the moving pieces is good.

Value wise it's fair but no from MTL. They are win now. You're filling one hole and opening another. There is a way to get a partner for Weber without taking a major piece off the current roster.

Sure, he would, if only because those are the last players on his get out of town list, Eller an PK being the other two. I don't think the Hab scouts are that high on Beauvillier, however.

Yeah. Montreal has seven picks in the first two rounds for the 2017 and 2018 draft. At least a couple of those will be dealt.
