Waived: PA Parenteau placed on waivers (Claimed by NJ)

$1.25m on a one year deal? With the team lacking RH forwards? There is something more here than just play on the ice. They stuck with Regin, PMB, Coma chef....

No reason they couldn't make him 3rd line RW or buried him as 13th forward to see if he got his game back together.

Edit: They only got to see him with JT for a single game. Something serious, off ice related had to have happened.

I understand you don't like the idea of three goalies (me too by the way), but Halak was injured no less than 4 times last season.

I understand wanting insurance for Halak's injury troubles, but the goalie market is pretty saturated. Are they that scared that someone will claim Berube on waivers? I would think they could sneak him through so he can actually play at the Bridge instead of sitting on his ass all season long again.

I guess we'll hear about Berube having a phantom injury soon enough.

Clutterbuck is the only natural RW currently on the roster. Please let this be a trade for an RW.

Berube is a dime a dozen goalie. Every team has a Berube. Devils waived Wedgewood today for example.

Snow is and idiot. This is a win now team and Snow does not realize it

This is surprising. I didn't think he looked great in the game I saw him, but he was an FA acquisition that the isles aprarently went after. I wonder if something is in the works. Maybe we'll see a trade for a legit first line winger.

Wow, this move makes no sense whatsoever. I cannot imagine JT is happy right now, unless this team is actually making a trade and getting a Kucherov or something. Even then, why would you not keep a 20 goal scorer for 1.25 million? Now that we are cutting him from the team, it honestly makes the offseason look that much worse. We lose Okposo and Nielsen and add Chimera and Ladd. Not good. Adding PAP after just scoring 20 for the Leafs seemed like a decent replacement but I just don't know what this team is doing now. If this move it to keep freaking Berube, Snow is an idiot.

Doesn't necessarily mean he is gone either, could go to AHL if he clears which is very possible. I dont think Ho-Sang is coming up right now, this allows them to keep both Barzal and Beaulivier until Prince returns. The 3 goalie thing is still a problem but they clearly feel that waiving Berube they would lose him and that clearly is something they dont want to do. Snow will need to do something here at some point but they obviously feel that Berube is better than Gibson/Williams/Mcadam as far as young goalies.

Wow. We're never boring. Gotta assume at least two of Ho-Sang, Barzal and Beauvillier made the club, then? A deal coming? PA's salary is small so it wasn't to clear cap space.

Either Beauvilier or Ho-Sang make the team ahead of Barzal IMO

Very surprising, to say the least. If he really was terrible, TBH didn't see alot of the preseason, I say good for shipping him out/AHL to make space for the kids. Haven't we all *****ed and moaned over the years for having over the hill vets blocking the promotion of kids? The fact that Snow/Cappy did this makes me think PAP was that bad, or the kids were that good.

As for Berube, I'm fine with keeping him. Jaro will get hurt, Greiss will be gone after the season so rather have him fill in when needed and have him as the backup for future than potentially lose him for nothing. Doesn't hurt the team and hoping they are seeing something that we, the public, will never see until he starts playing more.

Interesting times !!!

Not a fan of this move. I assume it means more kids made the cut than expected, which is a good thing, but even then I'd much prefer keeping a vet like him around for insurance.

I wonder if this means both Beauvillier and one of Ho-Sang/Barzal made it? Guess we'll see.

Pap is a decent scorer on poor teams, but he's not a player that you want as a fixture on your first line if you have playoff aspirations. I'd much rather have hungry players like Ho-Sang or Barzal up with the team, rather than rotting away in juniors.

This is a good hockey move!

I will lose my **** if we claim him back. I might have to take a break from the Isles.

Would definitely be one of the dumbest moves in the history of the Isles. And there have been a ******** of dumb moves.

Capuano is atrocious at handling kids, he always relies on his vets. If waiving Parenteau to make way for another kid then I have mixed feelings about it. I'm glad that we're going with the more talented players, but their inexperience and penchant for making mistakes is something that Capuano is going to have to live with. This is the guy who will seemingly bench a kid for a week or longer for one mistake.

im shocked--guy is making 1.25 mil--even if we didnt use him on 1st line, thats a cheap contract for a proven point producer....staple hinting that ho-sang may be recalled--wow--could 2 or 3 rookies make the team? kinda exciting and they have looked great, but not usual protocol for a team that wants to be a SC contender--maybe a move coming?

I really don't see the problem with this. If you watch the guy for a month and training camp in preseason games and he is out played by other players there's no reason he should be on the team just because somebody is young.
